I've never specifically hunted hog, but I've been on a turkey hunt where I came up on two that did the exact same thing these ones did. I startled them and they ran right to us. Lucky they went past us because I don't think a 12 gauge with bird shot wouldn't have stopped even if I was ready which I wasn't when I came on them.

The sound is definitely dubbed in for effect, but you can definitely see some of the hogs drop. They are certainly firing.

Oh, no worries. This was a corporate relocation for 10 months. We're going back to Michigan, just need to sell the house here. I never wanted to come here to hell (SoCal as all the douchebags say)...so happy to go home to winter and snow.

TBF you don't want to be hunting these things with your typical rifle that takes 30 round mags. 5.56 is on the wimpy side for wild pig.

If you want to use the AR-15 platform for hunting, I'd personally recommend 6.8 SPC. It's much more appropriate for large game, you can stick an upper on your current AR, and 25-round magazines are readily available.

No, you want 30-round 5.56 magazines for when the predators are running at you on two legs.

I'd personally recommend 6.8 SPC

450 Bushmaster is the way to go for hog hunting. The 450 Bushmaster round and other 'thumper' rounds were designed (among other things) specifically with dropping hogs in mind. Hunters were coming in from the field with stories of big hog needing multiple .308 rounds to drop. 450 Bushmaster works great on an AR platform and will typically make them drop with a single round. You only get 15 rounds a mag though so practice mag swaps I guess?
