Why the OP is set to 0 instead of 1?

The standard for OP is to be set to 1. Since the OP believes his post is good, it's a matter of basic logic. Why the OP is set to 0 instead of 1? It's against logic.

It is about incentives. If every post gets an automatic up vote, posters can farm karma by making lots of posts that nobody else cares about. That is a perverse incentive structure.

Setting OP to 1 means you could gain points by simply spamming posts. That's not a good equation.
