Mountain Meadows was payback on the guys who murdered Joseph Smith etc. I don't recall the names of those guys but they had been talking shit about having done the murders from something like Illinois all the way to UT. When they got to UT the Mormons waylaid them and the rest of the folks who they had been traveling with, murdered them all except their children, and then sent the kids back East to their families with notes telling what had happened to the adults.
My read on MM is that its a feather in the cap of the Mormons. Avenged sevenfold is a way I'd put it.
I won't speak to the rest of what you've written but I did want to offer an alternative take on MM.
1) The folks that murdered JS and his fellow Mormons were let into the jail to do so by local law enforcement.
2) Given just what has transpired in the last 4-5 years, do you trust the veracity of any charges levied by powers within State or Federal government? I certainly start from a place of not trusting.

Mormons believe they are a "tribe of Israel" and are fiercely united with jews. Mormons believe that the battle of Armageddon will take place in Israel and will do anything in their power to support them to make it happen.
Doesn't seem significant until you realize J. Edgar Hoover's first FBI agents were all Mormons and they continue to infiltrate the federal government to this day.
