Looking at drones, wondering if anyone has any experience with them. Mostly going to be using it just as a night time surveillance thing within a few miles, having problems with people in my neighborhood stealing shit.

Instead get Wyze camera. They have a starlight chip which makes night look like day and pretty good resolution. You pay about $2 /month for their internet storage of your videos and they records based on motion, sound and quantify what they see by either person, vehicle, pet, sound or motion.
The laws against flying drones out of visual range and to spy on neighbors are strict and penalties are tens of thousands of dollars. Your thieving neighbor will be able to take you to court and get more from you.
DJI PHANTOM series have been performing quite impressively...user friendly, technically intricate but simple and structurally tough...a great piece of equipment for which to get introduced to the world of drones.

dont know if id recommend them per se but thats about as entry level drone as you get.
