For an energy company to cut off your power they have to first take you to court. The UK courts are already backlogged to fuck so this will be a major hurdle.

On top of that, electricity can't actually be cut off, the energy company can however apply for a pre-payment meter to be installed and access to the property (plus permission to damage any cupboard housing the meter - to carry out the work)

Once a pre-payment meter is fitted, there is a maximum percentage of the top up amount that can be used to pay off the energy debt. On top of this all prepayment meters come with a £5 emergency credit button - but this will be swallowed whole on the next top up.

Rates for pre-payment meters are also significantly higher than nom pre-payment meters.

They are however very easy to fuck up and glitch on, but then that's a criminal charge if they can prove it woz u that dun it

Also it's likely the energy company will be fitting a 'smart meter'

The trick of wiring a big fuck off capacitor bank accross the meter - main wire in, main wire out - will still stop the meter registering power flowing through it - but with a smart meter I'd imagine it can tell.

In other news, if you are lucky enough to own an old school diaphragm gas meter and a vacuum cleaner (and are of course a gas Safe registered plumber) those are pretty simple to dial back....or if you're in your enemies house dial forward

You will still get charged for interfering with the meter if you get caught tho
