And we have squash !!!

submitted by Gowithit to Gardening 2.8 yearsAug 6, 2022 19:37:14 ago (+13/-0)     (Gardening)

I have two big beauties coming out!!!! One of I just saw a few days ago coming out and today boom it's looking fat!!

I'm still hoping they are butternut but they are looking like spaghetti squash.

Who would have thought squash grew so quickly?

How long ago did you plant it?

Been making fresh tomato sauce all day, still have 2 large paper bags to go.

Tomatoes!! This is the second year where they wait until now August / September to even start coming in.

I never had a problem before so I don't know what is going on.

Yeah, this might be the year I don't go giving them all the extra away. If enough even come in. I'm not optimistic ,last years was kinda sparse too.

Is this your first year making tomato sauce?

Same here. Tomatoes been really poor so not much to make sauce with.

I have been doing it for a few years now, last year was the first that I still have sauce and oven-dried from last year still leftover.

we have a bunch of winter squash growing as well. at least 3 butternut, 3 or 4 acorn, and a bunch of spaghetti squash. some of these started growing from seeds that were in our compost, so i had no idea what they were until the fruit started growing :)
super happy for you that your babies are producing.

Lol, a month ago I planted some late pumpkins. The two I bought from the store are now nine feet long, and still growing. The other two I babied from seeds from an old Halloween pumpkin have decided not to sprawl out, and instead grow up, and are nearing three feet tall, and about three feet wide.

No pumpkin fruit yet, the female flowers are appearing, but not blooming, not sure why.

There's also about 14 other pumpkin plants I just tossed in the ground as seed. They were all pretty stunted, but some compost tea is getting them back on track.

It's so rewarding growing squash. Like the first time as a kid you saw a balloon get blown up. Mine are only small at the moment but growing well.

I had to look at the last before and that was 2 months ago so about almost 3 months maybe 4 when it first started.

I didnt plant them they just ended up growing because I threw seeds everywhere.

But I'm outside right now and I just another one. She was hiding from me. For sure it's spaghetti.
