Record coral cover is being seen across much of the Great Barrier Reef as it recovers from past storms and mass-bleaching events. But the new coral taking over is leaving the reef more vulnerable to future devastating impacts, according to the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS).

Record coral growth has been recorded across the entirety of the Great Barrier Reef; which only means more of it can perish during the next heat wave, oy vey.

If you steel-man the climate argument and concede the ocean is warming, all this means is the coral habitats shift. Corals that prefer warmer waters will take over the areas that are bleaching, the ones that like it a bit cooler will take over those that are cooler still, and so on. Corals have been around for hundreds of millions of years and have survived through much higher temperatures than the couple of "catastrophic" degrees the work is projected to warm.

There are even more glaciers now that can melt during our next bout of climate change.

And it seems they completely gave up on the whole climate change thing and are fully backing the old global warming crap. When the sun enters the next phase I think we might actually see them switch to global cooling in our lifetime.

Won’t somebody think of all the researchers and activists and fundraisers who will be out of a job if these figures don’t change!
