The problem with this is that Torx is actually the superior screw...

[ - ] CPU 3 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 02:19:00 ago (+3/-0)

That's not a screw, look at the picture again.

[ - ] throwawayaccount 3 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 02:21:09 ago (+3/-0)

Yeah I get it, the Torx (Jew) is actually a screw driver that screws the crowd (whites). The problem is Torx is the superior bit/head in reality.

[ - ] CPU 1 point 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 02:34:10 ago (+1/-0)

That just means they are most willing to be controlled by the driver.

For what?

[ - ] throwawayaccount 6 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 19:50:31 ago (+6/-0)

Torx is superior for every application. It's naturally nonslip and rarely strips out. It's basically Philips but better.

[ - ] Name 4 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 19:54:16 ago (+4/-0)

So basically if you have a six pointed star on your head it allows you to get screwed harder but as the comic implies you must screw others in the process?

[ - ] throwawayaccount 4 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 19:59:06 ago (+4/-0)

The comic is supposed to represent Jews screwing everyone.
Not necessarily Jews getting screwed harder and bringing everyone down.

[ - ] kammmmak 3 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 20:01:25 ago (+3/-0)

Your head is screwed on right.

[ - ] GoatsAdvocate 4 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 20:52:13 ago (+4/-0)

The only time Philips are good for is applications where you don’t want the user to overtighten and break shit instead it’ll just strip or cam out

[ - ] Thyhorrorcosmic103 2 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 20:02:50 ago (+2/-0)

Interesting.

[ - ] throwawayaccount 4 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 20:06:41 ago (+4/-0)

I forgot to mention that Torx bits are all measured in specific increments. So unlike Philips, you don't have 5 different sizes that all kinda fit but not really. With Torx it's a lot like wrenches. 6 fits with 6. 8 fits with 8. Which is one of the major reasons they are less likely to slip out and strip.

[ - ] lolxd 3 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 00:54:17 ago (+3/-0)

Yes and no, because there's a difference between P+ and non P+ and I still strip out TORX bolt heads because of it.

[ - ] throwawayaccount 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 01:07:37 ago (+0/-0)

Please explain what P+ and non P+ means in this context. The only context I have heard either of these terms used is in regards to ammunition. Which doesn't sound right.

That said, I will say, I have never managed to strip out a Torx bit under any circumstance in which I was using the proper bit for the proper screw.

[ - ] lolxd 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 01:14:16 ago (+0/-0)

https://www.wihatools.com/torxplus-benefits

Imagine a screw that's maybe an 1/8in wide head, can you tell the difference between the bolt head at a glance when the same size torx driver fits in both?

[ - ] throwawayaccount 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 01:17:02 ago (+0/-0)

Oh wow, I didn't realize Torx+ was even a thing. I've never seen it before this diagram you just sent.
I could see it being superior to the typical Torx. Maybe that's the one I should be advocated for standardization of?

[ - ] lolxd 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 01:24:53 ago (+0/-0)

Torx+ is generally for more serious work, carpentry is too cheap to wanna spend 50 cents per screw given the actual geometric tolerance zones that can't be rolled or stamped accurately enough (to the best of my knowledge.)

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 2 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 20:19:50 ago (+2/-0)

I was gonna say the advantage of the Philips is you don't have to have exactly the right driver to just screw in a wall socket or something. I agree that for stuff that actually matters the Torx is better.

[ - ] throwawayaccount 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 20:23:44 ago (+0/-0)

In my opinion it's far less annoying to keep a set of Torx drivers in a drawer and try 4 of them trying to figure out the right size than to strip out a Philips and spend the next 10 minutes trying to get it out with a pair of needle nose.

[ - ] Thyhorrorcosmic103 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 21:29:48 ago (+2/-2)

Ive broken many a torx driver. The splines are thin and rip right off. If you have a large size maybe but for small screws and bolts no.

[ - ] throwawayaccount 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 21:31:11 ago (+0/-0)

I have never had that happen. I'd like to know how you are accomplishing this feat.

[ - ] Thyhorrorcosmic103 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 04:53:41 ago (+0/-0)

I work in industry. They break all the time. Even the high end impact ones.

[ - ] 1Icemonkey 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 22:16:14 ago (+0/-0)

Spend money on impact bits from Milwaukee or the like and you’ll own bits and you’ll be happy.

[ - ] Teefinyomouf 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 22:46:47 ago (+0/-0)

Well a box of screws often comes with a few drivers so that's nice.

[ - ] Thyhorrorcosmic103 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 04:56:02 ago (+0/-0)

I wonder why…

[ - ] x0x7 -1 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 22:05:48 ago (+0/-1)

Except that it requires the exact size of torx bit while flat head and philips has some wiggle room, or else the torx will strip very easily.

So now you need a bit set where three sizes of philips will take care of 99% of all screws, and one size of philips will take care of 80% of your needs.

[ - ] throwawayaccount 2 points 1.8 yearsAug 2, 2022 22:18:15 ago (+2/-0)

flat head I agree has some wiggle room. The problem with philips is the sizes are based on ratio of depth to width. So you can have drivers that seem like they are the right width but are too long, or vice versa. Which is what leads to the problem with excessive stripping.

Torx is superior and people who say shit like "but I only need 1-3 Philips to do all screws" are people who act like carrying a small set of 6-8 Torx bits is too difficult for them. It's basically nigger logic at that point.

Don't bring up cost either, you can buy a set of standard Torx sizes for $8-12. Throw one in the glove box of your car for all anyone cares.
I think the fact that we can't just swap everything over to Torx is probably due to this exact level of laziness.

Torx only strips "easily" if you use too small of a size (because too large won't even fix), but the thing is that too small of a size only strips the inner edges of the star and still leaves the outer edges to grab for the proper size.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer 0 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 05:51:30 ago (+0/-0)

Torx absolutely breaks too easily at the smaller sizes. I have a pile of T3's because of it. The larger sizes work better though, less bullshit with huge-sized philips heads getting it to grip things.

[ - ] drhitler 1 point 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 00:35:39 ago (+1/-0)

i cant find my philips when i need it, god forbid i have to look for a screw driver i dont have because i only had one in that set i bought years for that one screw and now i cant find the torx bit i need.

[ - ] throwawayaccount 2 points 1.8 yearsAug 3, 2022 00:41:13 ago (+2/-0)

That sounds like a personal problem with disorganization tbh. Personally, I keep all my tools in my car. Whether it's the trunk, glove box, or back seat. I always make sure - double check even - that I have put a tool back in its proper place after I'm done using it so I don't use it. Keeping them in my car means they are always on me wherever I go. I keep Torx, Philips, Slotted, even Tri and hex. As well as wrenches, sockets, etc. Of many varying sizes.

Depending on your age, I can see this being reasonable. I'd say Torx didn't start becoming as common until about 6-7 years ago. But now, it's everywhere. For good reason to. If I had my way, I'd replace all screws with Torx. And that's how I'd hope the world would go, but it's hard to tell.

Should have been a Phillips head, but that maybe would be too on the nose.

This is backwards. The crowd should be torx heads, and the leader should be a flathead, but also stripped out partially, and also standing taller than he really is on a pile of money.
