Hitler always stayed with this message because he believed it was true. He said as much in "Mein Kampf" (1925), repeated it in 1928 according to the meme (unsourced, but I don't doubt it), and never strayed from that belief. He did, however, distinguish between Christianity and churches. He didn't trust the German and Austrian churches because of their loyalties, particularly the Catholic church. The Lutheran church had some congregations that were solidly German and others that wanted no part of the Third Reich, and Hitler never let them forget who was in charge. He thought it was highly inappropriate for organized religion to engage in politics.
Hitler only liked Christianity for the fruits. It was all expediency. To his credit he recognized the positives and thought them to be a worthwhile influence on the state. But it's pretty clear he wasn't himself a believer. To the church he held a similar view of organized labor. Disliked and distrusted it, but realized it could also be a powerful force toward meeting his ends.
Most of all he understood power and organization. He had great respect for effective organization. He didn't like labor unions because they were divisive, and especially the jewish controlled labor unions. He formed relationships between industry and labor that were mutually beneficial, and by removing the contention and the "win-lose" dynamic in negotiations, he created a much better, more unified Germany.
He viewed the organized religions, particularly the Catholic church, as interlopers, organizations with some power interfering where they had no business, and he was correct. It's one thing to have faith in God and his son Jesus, it's another to put that same faith in a church as an intermediary between one and God. The church will always have an agenda. I don't trust organized religion, and I have never trusted it either, and neither did Hitler. He had good reason. But he was still a man of faith.
