If artificial wombs were available where you would deposit a cell from your body or if you chose a blended cell with a woman into this artificial womb and it sat on your desktop for 9 months plugged in filtering water sugar and temperature to grow that fetus until you open the bag in eight and a half months and you just unzip that bag and there was your baby would you buy that or would you rent that and how much would you be willing to pay for it?

Remember also you could utilize one of these artificial wombs as a single man to have children without the financial or governmental or legal ties to a woman that might backfire on you in the future but you could still raise a full family. Of course you could also do this with a woman if you chose.

I'd take it. This could be used to save children who get stuck before the uterus, to save not just the mother but the child too. Could be used for women who have high risks or too many c-sections. Or if triplets maybe you could extract one or two and incubate externally to reduce risks. Any parent who uses such a device would really want the child and would take good care of it. It would probably be pretty expensive, just like IVF today.

I'd take it. In a heart beat.

A lot of men would rather have children by themselves than not at all or with a bad wife/mother.

A lot of single heterosexual white men just want to have children. They want kids far more than they want women.

It's even better potentially, you could edit the genes of the child so that they are better in any way.

What if a space alien landed in your back yard and big foot came out to see it. Would you shave pickles or spit pumpkin seeds and if you would spit pumpkin seeds, how far would you try to spit them?

Apparently you don't realize this technology already exists and has been used for sheep and cattle and other things to bring them to full gestation.

You're right, I didn't know. That said, I think the very idea of it is abomination. Clone wars will be real.

It's an interesting alternative to abortion.

God meant for us to get horny and make babies. I'm not sure we need more than that.

This is something that, as a society, we should strive to either outlaw or restrict to extremely limited uses. The problem isn't one of ability, but one of outcomes. Children (and society) NEED a family with a mother and a father. The farther you move away from that ideal, the worse off your kids (and society) are. Good families build good societies, broken families destroy societies.

This doesn't solve anything. This just sends society farther down the path of embracing abominations and abominable ideas.

In 10 years this will be as common as in vitro fertilization and perhaps even more common.

There will be political debates about whether a rich person should be allowed to have 100 kids or not. Those will be the types of questions and whether someone must have a certain situation before they're allowed to have a baby this way such as the means to support it or pass some kind of test. And they'll be debates about what happens if the person stops paying rent on the machine after four and a half months when the fetus is far along. And what happens if there's an accident and the fetus dies because the power went out. And all kinds of things like that but this will be common in 10 years.

It's only legal issues holding this back. This could be done tomorrow. The technology's been used for higher mammals like sheep and cattle and all kinds of things and brought animals to full gestation. The only real question is how far along with the embryo have to be before plantation but since in vitro fertilization already grows in embryo to a certain stage from a single cell I'm sure that probably wouldn't be much of a problem either. And people would argue about the fact that some embryos would be lost but remember in natural pregnancies a huge number of embryos are lost without anybody knowing it at all anyway.

I can't tell you how big of a "no" that is without fedposting.
