Fucking weeds taking over my garden faster than i can pull them.

What do?

Im bout ready to just dig up my whole fucking flower bed, replace all the soil with store-bought potting soil and start over, and put screens down over the top to try to keep weed seeds from getting in there. Im seriously at a loss here. Its fucking ridiculous.

Can't help you with weeds too much as I am more of a container gardener who gardens for food but I just want to tell as many people as I can about biochar and how we should be all making it to put in our soil. Google it up and check it out. Basically you make charcoal and just put it into the ground. If you want the quickest results you need to let it soak for about 3 months in compost and home made fertilizer to 'charge' it up which just means get the microbes living in it faster. Otherwise you may need to wait 3 years to get proper results from it. But then it lasts for 1000s of years. Now I know why our factory farming methods are so fucked up. We don't need to do the fertilizers in massive quantiles each year if we just did the biochar stuff.

10-15% biochar in the soil also "fluffs" it up incredibly well, making weeds much easier to pull out. Its really good stuff.

I do this on my homestead. We added charcoal this year. I bought the charcoal though, I don't want to sit there for hours to watch it cook.

If you have land that you tend to then you have piles of brush. When you do your burns just have a hose on hand to quench the coals, bonus points for raking and isolating the ember bed for quenching. Chuck the charcoals in the compost or just spread them through the gardens. But as mentioned, the charcoal will need to "charge", so if you apply it fresh to the land it will rob nutrients for about 2 years. Much faster to control its charge in compost systems.

A lot o sources make it much more complicated than it has to be. I already run compost tea systems which have the biochar ready in a week, but plenty of people just soak it in urine haha. Anaerobic compost teas (like Comfrey tea) also work great for charging fast and easy.

I already have amazing yields, I've haven't been looking into anything else due to use having an abundance but that can always end.

Depending on the size of the garden, even just some chickens might be enough to eradicate all plant and insect life!

I can hardly believe some of the things they manage to poop on!! It's great for the soil, though. Ironic, since their presence prevents anything from growing...

I should do something about it. Being that we live on the communist coast, our property is relatively minuscule, so we have three chickens. There's STILL poop on everything!

Yeesh, our entire property is not even on a quarter acre.

Yeah, black plastic kills all including the soil microbiota. I'd instead suggest the black weed fabric, it kills the weeds but allows the micobes to breathe.
Better yet, just use straw. Not hay, gotta be straw, pea straw is my fave. Easy to apply, works very well, is cheap, organic and looks nice.

Vinegar
Home Depot has the stronger concentration than grocery store vinegar. Just don't get crazy with it and don't spray the good plants.

Weed the beds then cover them with coffee sacks. Also known as hessian or burlap sacks. The fabric is organic / compostable.

They block the light but allow air and moisture to penetrate. Once it has rained a couple of times they will become rigid and stick to the soil.

They are cheap, the importer I buy them from sells them to me for about 80c each and they are about 1200 x 800 mm.

Weeds will eventually grow through them so while the weeds are still small I pick up the bag and flip it over which pulls them out and covers the ground again.

If the beds are more permanent I'll put a mulch over the top of the bags. Usually just straw. This will prevent any further weeds for about 2 years.

Also the reason you have so many weeds seeds is probably because you previously left the weeds too long and they went to seed. Always pull them out at the right times of year and your life will be much easier.
