I make six figures yet it is still much harder to maintain a good standard of living and get ahead in life than it was during the 1950s-1990s. The nation has gone downhill and they closed the door behind them. I realize that my situation is exceptional but in their day you could afford a house or at the very least a good apartment on a department store employee wage. These days if you work one of those jobs you're gonna have to share an apartment with 3-4 others and use government assistance to make ends meet. Sure it is not as simple as "blame the boomers", but they've been the premier political powerhouse throughout America's recent decline.
