Sounds like you’ll be dead soon. Quickest way to cure your addiction.

I know a few addicts and this is the only proven method. To speed it up op should add meth and fentanyl to his daily routine.

Don't keep it in the house and don't go to the bar. Now you have time on your hands. Do you have a hobby? If not get one. Clean the house, repair the house. Repair anything else. Clean your guns.

And do you smoke weed? Many will say it's just as bad and blah blah, afaic it's a lesser evil and will take the edge off if you're having trouble staying away from drink.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 2 points 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 21:57:26 ago (+2/-0)

don't go to the bar

Don't even drive by the bar, if that's your thing, or anything associated with the drinking.
Those are cues and can trigger cravings.
Even something like being on Voat late at night can count if it's been a regular activity associated with the habit (aka conditioning.)
Quitting drinking is a change in lifestyle as much as a change in a singular behavior.

Can second the "weed to fix alcoholism" sentiment. Usually alcohol consumption is to "turn down the bullshit"...weed will do that.

If you can find the strain "Bee Cookies", its been known to help stave off the shakes and night sweats as you go through the withdrawal.

Keep drinking but moderate. You are probably sick with some bug because you have been drinking too much and compromised your immune system. Don't try to go cold turkey. Just reduce your consumption for now.

Alcohol withdrawal is the only known substance dependency that can result in death from going cold turkey. At ten drinks a day you're probably not there yet but I wouldn't recommend it nonetheless. Switch to something weaker if limiting the frequency is difficult.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 1 point 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 20:14:07 ago (+1/-0)

Benzo withdrawal can kill you too, they both interact with gaba receptors. Xanax is harder to quit that heroin for that reason.

My doctor said 10 drinks a week.

[ - ] Vrbllpollushin 1 point 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 21:17:18 ago (+1/-0)

Your doctor is a pussy.

There is something called "kindling" in which repeated on-again, off-again drinking will amplify subsequent withdrawals.
You are better to slowly wean yourself off of alcohol.

During what? You have only yourself to blame for the consequences of your actions. Enjoy the DTs; they suck.

As the others said, taper down. If you don't want anything to do with booze, then seek a doc who is willing to toss you some Librium.

Hmm. Drink as much as you want as long as it doesn't interfere with anything or anyone else. Your call, your vice. No judgement. Not kidding about the DTs though. You do NOT want to experience them, and some of your symptoms are warning signs.

Been there, done that. Still drink once in a while.

If you're getting delirium tremens... if its that bad... Don't go cold turkey. You can probably cut your "dose" in half immediately but taper it off. over a week to a month.

Just stop drinking. It's that simple.

Now I'm not saying it won't be hard if you're just to deal with your real life, but you asked. FOR FUCK SAKE, STOP DRINKING. JUST STOP.

Give it a few days. They'll be painful. But since you asked, this is the best way.

[ - ] ForgottenMemes 0 points 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 21:58:11 ago (+0/-0)

Making positive change in your live can be accomplished in only one way. Replacing bad habits with good ones. Then maintaining those habits for the rest of your life. The only people who succeed in losing weight make permeant improvements to their eating habits, those who diet always fail. Always.

Set up a system that you're 100% confident you can follow indefinitely, even if it achieves the results slower than you'd like, then tweak it every few months.

I don't see why drinking would be any different.

Meh. Works for some. I grew mushrooms and extracted shitloads of DMT. Done shrooms hundreds of times and the latter thousands. I actually find a bit of alcohol helps with the edge of a strong DMT session.

Psychedelics can give insight to your problems, but you ultimately have to make the committment yourself. Of the classical psychedelics, I found LSD to be the most introspective one and had the most epiphanies under its influence. Most of the others are simple mindfucks.

Is that spaced out across the day or one sitting?
I ask because the solution to a drinking problem is as unique as each situation, and I wouldn't give a day drinker the same advice as a nite-capper.

The liver, kidneys & pancreas have a magical natural way of dealing with alcohol poisoning, kinda like childbirth but in reverse. Drink responsibly, or die.

🌈 The more you know.

[ - ] Tsar 0 points 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 21:01:18 ago (+0/-0)

Depends, how long have you been drinking? What type of alcohol are you drinking? Do you want to quit or just be a functioning alcoholic?

[ - ] DukeofRaul 0 points 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 20:43:57 ago (+0/-0)

Alexander the great died that way in Persia.

[ - ] Rob3122 0 points 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 20:40:10 ago (+0/-0)

I quit smoking by having one less cigarette each day. Try to distract yourself when you get the urge to have a drink. Lastly if you can exercise now would be a good time to put down the beer and pick up the dumbells.

[ - ] GoldenAgeWhen 0 points 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 20:46:06 ago (+0/-0)

Alcohol doesn't work that way (hard to stop once going). Needs to switch to beer or something and then quit. Or be an addict.

[ - ] FreeinTX 0 points 2.8 yearsJul 19, 2022 19:54:00 ago (+0/-0)

Lift bro.

Stop drinking.
