i have a 1660ti that came with my computer 2 years ago and i wonder how long this cpu will last me since i'm new to PC gaming and i know little about graphics cards. i have been wanting to upgrade in order to play 4k but i just dont have the resources for it right now
so the question is how long my card should last at 1080p gaming? discuss
Even a 2080ti won't reliably play demanding games at full graphics settings at 4k 60fps. 1440p would be the way to go, then a gtx1080 is fine. Just recently got a 2080ti.
My current PC is 11 years old and still kicking. I have had to replace the hard drive twice, PSU once, and upgraded the ram to 4gbs from a salvaged PC I bought at a garage sale. The GPU is still chugging along.
I use the integrated graphics that came with my $60 2019 CPU. The last AAA game I played with it was Cyberpunk 2077. WHAT? DATS IMPOSSIBLE!?
I turn down graphics settings to lowest and use a medium resolution. And you know what? It's fine. Once you're in the game you don't notice the whiz bang graphics anyways.
But whatever, plunk down hundreds or thousands of dollars chasing the latest high end fad.
i'm kind of screwed because my cpu doesnt come with integrated graphics. anyhow, my 1660 ti does the job now but am starting to see that its aging when i play fortnite. i barely hit 100 fps while my cpu have big spikes when in usage and ditto with the GPU.
yes fortnite is stupid but its the only shooter that is somewhat fun to play with the right squad lol

Umm, no. Any dedicated graphics card is better than integrated graphics. My point was that I don't even bother with a GPU and use the bottom shelf graphics of a cheap CPU -- one that's 3 years old at that.

Lulz. You read my post and understood nothing. I play max at 30 fps. 60 fps used to be the high end. And here you are worrying because you "only" get 100 fps.
I upgraded from a 620 to a 1050. You can wait about seven years before you actually need a new card.
If you're some kind of addict you can stay on top of the newest gear at all times like my gook friend. Spend 5k a year constantly upgrading your computer.
How long a chip lasts depends on the workload. That being said the 1660ti wasn't ever considered a high end card. 4k gaming is mostly memes you wont get any considerably stable frame rates above 40fps at 4k res with current tech anyway, and people with more money than sense seek 4k imo. If you buy a new nvidia 3k series or amd 6000 series gpu you'll probably be fine for the next decade unless you're gaming 80 hours a week without air conditioning.
Depends on what games you are playing. A 1660ti is like a mid range card, so at 4K it'll struggle with newer titles to maintain a playable frame rate unless you turn down settings to low-medium maybe. For 1080p it'll be fine at medium-high settings I think. You do miss out on some of the fancier features of the newer geforce cards such as DLSS and ray tracing, but if the games you're playing doesn't support those then it's not much of an issue.

1080p gaming is a bit outdated.

weird because i have seen people that have more FPS with less abled cards.
for other less intensive games and emulation, its still decent but i wonder how long though
people tell in this very thread that it should last a long while and i hope so.
