I'd say it's a prerequisite. A lot of people, including myself, can lift as much as they want, eat as much as they want, and be left with a big tank for all the effort.
depens on what you are eating....a lot of stuff that passes for food today is just processed shit that the human body was never designed to digest. Hell, we are not designed to process dairy and people suck that shit down like candy
Weight lifting is an anaerobic workout meaning it burns off local glucose stored in the muscles in the absence of oxygen. Burning off that glucose helps burn more fat in the long run especially in men.
Aerobic workouts burn more fat for women.
Cardio is still good for endurance training though.
Muscle passively burns fat and depending on the activity of the muscle and its density may burn more fat and require more nutrition.
The value of cardio is multi-facited for health and weight loss and should not be ignored.
Tge heart being an active muscle 0assively burns quite a few calories, a stronger heart will burn more calories in essence cardio is lifting/resistance training for your heart.
The heart and its heapth and strength have a durect impact on immune function, healthy vascular function, efficiency of resource distribution blood clots, it's likely this is all the result of brute force blood pressure changes and vascular dilation and contraction bit also that much 9f a body's immune functions are focused on preserving the heart and with less need for management overall weight on the immune system is reduced, incidentally cardio is great for your lymphatic systems which act as the hidden sewer system of your body.
Additionally cardio causes muscle cells in your legs and core to enter an active state and dramatically increase their caloric use for hours on end if you build muacle there and then cause that muscle to activate with even light cardio the caloric inefficiency you have created will aid in weight loss.
And finally just as anaerobic exercise spurs muscle growth and beneficial hormone activity which creates better impulse controll and can help calm and balance the mind, cardio has a similar effect on mental heapth by providing a source of feel good chemicals and rwgulating the production of auch neurochemicals likely as a result of the same vaso-dilation and blood pressure changes which help clear plaque even in the brain and should aid in sleep and recovery from depression anxiety and other stresses.
Balance for your own needs but I recommend 70% of your workout time in a week be weight lifting or strength training and 30% be cardio if weight loss is your goal.
Planning for noobs should be done in thirds, 10 minutes of walking and twenty of bodyweight and light lifting a day for beginners, for optimal results get ready to waste water, do one activity in the morning and the other shortly after your final meal of the day, shower after each and finish with a freezing rinse. If you do the cardio first once your body adapts to the cardio you're doing do it before eating.
lifting heavy things regularly keeps you fit efficiently
and we figured this out thousands of years ago until the newest (((doctors and scientists))) from the last 50 years came out with good advice for the goyim
It's kind of obvious, I knew this from the jump when I was 16 and just getting into fitness over a decade ago.
Muscle burns fat passively, by volume. Its why the massive muscled men of the world require such high calorie diets not to lose any muscle to a calorie deficit as soon as you get beyond a certain proportion of muscle to fat your body will burn a bit of muscle preemptively unless you keep in calorie surplus by over eating and eating high protein diets this is why strong man guys get fat, so they don't risk losing even half an ounce of muscle.
Weight lifting should be a part of physical education in highschool.
I'm speculating that weightlifting increases bone density and muscle mass, so therefore would increase testosterone levels, which would make a man look more 'manly'.
It's been working for me. I've been lifting regularly for 40 years.
That might explain why I still look thinner than most guys my age despite not running, jogging or what not. Three times a week on a Bowflex seems to be doing its thing.
