So I'm confused. Here's a little story, somewhat related.

In the city of San Francisco (ya ya I know), some asshole was damaging pigeons. He/she/it (likely they) was shooting pigeons with an air gun or with a blow gun and not always killing them. And it got so bad you'd see a bunch of pigeons around all fucked up. There's a famous picture of a pigeon standing around with a blow gun dart through its head. People started to get a bit disturbed over this.

A meeting was called with the city supervisors to protect the pigeons. The people calling the meeting wanted to set aside funds to protect the pigeons. And the supervisors were having none of that shit since it didn't help their leftist bottom line. But then some city sanitation worker busts in to the meeting and starts telling everyone why the pigeons must be saved. He says that although the pigeons make a bit of a mess, they also fly. And flying takes a lot of energy. So they convert all the shit they eat in to energy and burn it off flying. Basically, the pigeons are highly efficient garbage incinerators. He says that without the pigeons, the city would be a nightmare of garbage and disease.

Realizing that the pigeons are actually helpful to their leftist bottom line (by helping clean the city) and seeing an opportunity to ban some sort of weapon (although I have a hard time seeing air guns and blow guns as weapons), the city supervisors passed laws to ban stuff and protect the pigeons.

Okay, so this brings me to raccoons. Aren't they kind of the same thing? They eat our organic garbage and then go burn off the calories doing their raccoony things. Are they helping? Or are the messes they make or damage they cause worse than whatever help they bring by burning our waste?

I've lived in the city and I've lived in the country and now I live in the suburbs. Never really had any problems with raccoons. Seen plenty of them around, even accidentally gotten really close to them on occasion (once when we were camping with a bunch of people, maybe 50 raccoons came out of the woods and sat on the edge of the camp waiting for scraps - never had a bad issue with them). Sure if you fuck with them they'll get all hissy and bitey, but are they really that bad? I'm asking honestly since in my time I haven't really seen a problem.

Also, why are niggers called coons? Seems to me niggers are way worse and nothing like raccoons.

I read a letter to a newspaper once that claimed that racoon scat is a 'pharmacological nightmare' and it was signed by the Chief of Internal Medicine at some local hospital. Seems like a good reason to me.

Also I was visiting a ranch and saw a dead racoon. I asked the staff about it and they told me they shoot them on sight.
