You are correct, it is terrifying to have children right now. It also is inspiring to have someone else to live for. I literally don’t. And people know not to come to me unless they have something of import to say. This sort of standoffishness has made several people better. They want the validation, you see, so they now seek out certain topics so they can get a response.
Probably. I’m not sure why this place petered out and Communities.win took on the majority of our former userbase (consume product, specifically), but I get much the same reaction to what I say there as I did on Voat. It’s fine. The fire’s gone out of me now, so it’s less frequent that anyone even complains.
I hate the fracturing of communities. How can we ever be expected to grow if all we ever do is lose our homes without a fight? Ah, well.
I have varied interests and those interests are what I focus on when I spend time with people. That's the part that makes it worth my time and effort.
I also treat it like an experiment to see how different people across the political spectrum express their ideas and how they react to ideas slightly outside that comfort zone, what is received/rejected etc...
It's also good to have your own ideas tested face to face sometimes. Helps keep your thinking solid.
Be polite and nice... It keeps a nice wall up. If I have to go deeper I have made it an exercise to dig down into their thoughts far enough that I can find interesting.
Example, football games I can usually get people either down into chess if they like the coaches, statistics if their fans of fantasy football, or training practices if their fans of particular players.
It is tiresome to go deep into what their interested in, as you have to sit and listen to dumb stuff. But, there's functional utility in being friendly and I'm usually surprised at the level of depths that some people are capable of, just on a dumb subject.

Ok, so you want a real dialogue, but you're in a location which requires a facade. You can either break the rule of the environment and face the consequences, go to another environment where you don't have consequences, or stop dealing with people. Usually, I find that I break the rules of the environment early and get in minor trouble, take the (you can't talk like that) chat, and then don't have to worry too much about consequences (or promotions).
Truck driver school or construction. Those guys don't say gay shit like office fags do. Plus you can be the asshole and they just tell you to fuck off. It's kinda like working at Voat but you hear "nigger" and "faggot" slightly less

When people talk to others, they try to talk about things they have in common. If they don't know of anything they have in common, they default to the weather, sports, or movies. With the intent of those topics leading to an actual conversation.
People don't want to talk about those things. If I strike up a conversation with you about the weather, I don't want to talk to you about the weather. Instead I'm giving you the opportunity for you to tell me about what you do in this type of weather.
"Gee, it sure was hot this weekend." Is the opportunity for you to say if you used this hot weather to go fishing, or to take the kids swimming. Maybe you have a boat and took that out, maybe you couldn't take it out because you're working on the motor. Maybe you had a tough time finishing the cradle you just built for your baby because the heat caused the stain to clump up.
Sports - "How'd the local pro team do?" gives you the opportunity to talk about the team you're playing on, or to brag about how your kid is one of the top players on his team and not some lazy sack of shit who masturbates in their room all day while dressed up as a tranny. "Oh, you don't want to talk about sports? Ok, your kid is probably a tranny and you're pissed off about that." That's fine, but it's your job to change the subject to something you can talk about.
I don't know what you do every hour of every day. I don't know if your kid is normal or a tranny. I can't ask you specific questions like "How was the fishing, or how's that cradle coming along, or how's your kid's team doing?" because I don't know you well enough to ask specific questions. So I start the conversation about basic mundane shit, giving you the opportunity to take it in any direction, with the intent of finding something meaningful we can talk about or have in common.

Sports - "How'd the local pro team do?" gives you the opportunity to talk about the team you're playing on, or to brag about how your kid is one of the top players on his team and not some lazy sack of shit who masturbates in their room all day while dressed up as a tranny. "Oh, you don't want to talk about sports? Ok, your kid is probably a tranny and you're pissed off about that." That's fine, but it's your job to change the subject to something you can talk about.
I don't know what you do every hour of every day. I don't know if your kid is normal or a tranny. I can't ask you specific questions like "How was the fishing, or how's that cradle coming along, or how's your kid's team doing?" because I don't know you well enough to ask specific questions. So I start the conversation about basic mundane shit, giving you the opportunity to take it in any direction, with the intent of finding something meaningful we can talk about or have in common.
