Airfryer recommendation

submitted by Ragnar to AskUpgoat 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 18:18:45 ago (+2/-0)     (AskUpgoat)

Hello goats, I need help.
I want to get an airfryer that’s pfoa and ptfe (pfte?) free. Preferably has stainless steel baskets and trays and non plastic walls.
Can someone recommend such an airfryer if they have used it? How is the performance and speed? How much space does it take? Too loud?
Thanks bros

Owning an air fryer will cause you to eat shit food.

Just get a cast iron pan and use that to cook everything.

I bought a 2-in-1 Lodge cast iron pot and pan with those lame handles in your post. I regret not getting just a large pan with a long handle. Just a warning to think about.

[ - ] Gowithit 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 20:33:02 ago (+1/-0)

The only cast iron I regret buying is the casserole dish.

It was extremely heavy. Apparently the beautiful gas stove I had had cheap racks in it and the pan bowed them.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 01:13:04 ago (+0/-0)

Haha a pan bowed your rack, loser. But yes, cast iron pans are heavy, only men can handle them

[ - ] Gowithit 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 03:02:39 ago (+0/-0)

Phht. Youre not even at my level. This question told me everything I need to know.

French door .these other suggestions still have that lining you are looking to avoid and you can find some that cost less than the foodie.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 09:40:54 ago (+0/-0)

You know nothing, Juanita.

French doors airfryer, is that a company or just any airfryer with French doors?

[ - ] Gowithit 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 10:15:17 ago (+0/-0)

Funny how now it's "ours" and "brother in law" though.

Either youre a faggot or you don't have a wife.

It's a type of air fryer different brands have them . Emeril has one but it's really up there. other brands make that style too.

I have the gourmia one . It's alright. Yes it takes up space. Yes it has stainless steel( probably more like aluminum coated) walls . And ss racks. yes it's a pain in the ass to pull out when I want to use it. No it's not too loud. And it's pretty..

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 12:10:33 ago (+0/-0)

I don’t know what you are talking about, retard. It’s ours because I live with family. And I visit my sister semi regularly for dinner. Maybe you don’t understand how a family works because you are a bean.

Thanks for the explanation. I saw emeril yesterday, it does look good. I hope it doesn’t have aluminium because it’s toxic as well.

[ - ] lord_nougat 2 points 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 21:01:49 ago (+2/-0)

My grandparents gave me a set of iron pans a few decades ago. They're nearly all I ever use to this day now. Especially the big one I got seasoned and all smooth just so.

Ma-in-law likes to use the little one for eggs.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 01:14:12 ago (+1/-0)

How is she making those eggs? Plain fried or poached or omelette?

[ - ] lord_nougat 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 01:35:49 ago (+0/-0)

Plain fried usually, I think.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 01:41:40 ago (+0/-0)

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 01:10:00 ago (+1/-0)

I’m indeed worried the air fried food will taste bad or mediocre. Cast iron pan is good but I don’t want to fry things. Conundrums.

[ - ] observation1 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 04:02:25 ago (+1/-0)

Frying ain't bad so long as you don't use seed oil. Use butter or clarified butter or even lard.

Save the olive oil for your salads.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 09:39:37 ago (+0/-0)

I agree frying isn’t bad per se, and I only use tallow, no seed oils in my house. But I just can’t fry, as in I’m really bad at it. I can’t gauge the doneness and I’m really scared of hot oil because my mom got a nasty burn once

Gday

I recommend replacing ((( MICROWAVE ))) with Air Fyer

Try to source one with
Stainless Steel
Bottom Tray that comes out
Metal Tray that can be cleaned

at this point assume all corporations are
- Anti White
- Anti Consumer
- Anti Repair

This looks simular to my Air Fyer
Philips

No wifi/iot

Morning, I looked it up but I’m afraid it probably has pfoa and/or ptfe in it since it doesn’t mention stainless steel or glass or even ceramic

Air fryers are for junk food.

Egg rolls, potstickers omg that don't stick amazing. Those kind of things. Oh and reheating leftovers. Cooking.. I'm with you on that not so great.

[ - ] Spaceman84 2 points 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 19:24:00 ago (+2/-0)

It's just a convection oven. Heating element plus circulation fan.

[ - ] Gowithit 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 20:40:13 ago (+1/-0)

But air fryer sounds cooler.

[ - ] SecretHitler 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 02:19:43 ago (+0/-0)

Smaller than using your actual oven though. That should save energy, right? Even if you already have a convection oven?

[ - ] Spaceman84 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 17:05:22 ago (+0/-0)

In theory it should.

You know I’m leaning towards an actual deep fryer because a lot of people say the air fryer taste is not the same and it’s dry. I would use tallow to fry too. How much tallow do you use per batch, and what do you do with it once used?

Thanks for the reply. I’m indeed worried about the smell as my mother warned me about it. I live in a small apartment because I can’t buy a house yet. Your tips are quite useful, I think I will have to wait to make this purchase because I hate the frying smell.

I have no idea what kind of air fryer I have. It was a present. I just said "thanks" and plugged it in.

Here's a good biscuit recipe. Make some biscuit dough.
Follow directions on box of Bisquick.
ProTip: Replace the milk with chicken stock. Add chopped up bacon / cheese. Mix dough.
Put raw dough in a tupperware container. Put in fridge.

Whenever you want bread, open container, take out a ball of dough, place in coffee cup. Put coffee cup dough in air fryer. Cook @ 400 F for 15 minutes.

I use a large coffee mug for this. So, you'll probably have to adjust temp / time. Trial by error until you get it right.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 09:49:07 ago (+0/-0)

That’s a rather interesting technique. Won’t a mug shatter in the fryer?

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 23:04:46 ago (+1/-0)

I have a combination toaster oven air fryer, which saves space. Also all metal and glass. I think it's a Breville.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 01:18:13 ago (+0/-0)

That’s a little expensive

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 15:32:34 ago (+0/-0)

Maybe there is a version made in the same Chinese factory with a different brand for less money? IDK what you call it. Air fryer toaster oven thingy

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 20:59:58 ago (+1/-0)

Who the fuck wants fried air?!!?!

[ - ] Gowithit 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 22:08:31 ago (+1/-0)

Probably better tasting than those crickets they want us to go eat.

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 22:10:42 ago (+1/-0)

Hey, that is a totally valid point.

Now I want one. [just kidding; there's one in the garage somewhere already].

I was looking at it earlier. Looks like it takes a lot of space?

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 01:50:40 ago (+0/-0)

It does. I made a home for mine in a cabinet. I use it mostly to "grill" meats fast. It's a great machine for cooking a package of meat in one go, though the airfry part isn't bad either. Inner bits are dishwasher safe, though it's a good idea to at least scrape the meat bits off first.

It's a good option for cooking stuff on the fly, when you don't have a lot of time or energy to put into making a big meal, helping you to keep eating healthy with less effort.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 09:46:27 ago (+0/-0)

Is it better than grilling on the bbq? I have a bbq grill on our patio and I use it for steaks and skewered meat. My brother in law uses his for roasting a whole chicken on a beer can.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 10:28:08 ago (+1/-0)*

Better than panfry/baking, not quite as good as the bbq, if you're good at the bbq grilling. Pretty damned good for a set and forget cooking solution.

If you do get one: mix some spices(1) in oil, then dry the meat on a paper towel, then when the unit is ready for food smear your spicy oil on the meat and toss it in. Wait for unit to be done, enjoy!

(1)Try course cut pepper, a small dash of salt, and some good garlic powder(not the cheap shit) in some(not a lot) olive oil.

[ - ] Ragnar [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 12:43:51 ago (+0/-0)

Very nice, I appreciate the recipe!

[ - ] Spaceman84 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 13, 2022 17:06:00 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah it's not small. Pretty large as far as countertop devices go.

[ - ] Gowithit 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 18:47:27 ago (+1/-0)

Best bet for what you are looking for is a French door air fryer.

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2022 22:11:08 ago (+1/-0)

*American* door air is better!

I have the lid that turns my instapot into an airfryer. the chamber itself is just a stainless pot, I have no idea if the lid has PFOA or PTFE in it though. It is rather small but its cheap, especially if you already have an instapot.
