AB5 is about keeping truckers employed and unionized and not letting BigCorp contract off shipping to the lowest bidder. That lowest bidder will start off as owner operators that that have a certain minimum standard pay scale and mileage that's set by employed and unionized drivers, but after not too long a time, after the union is gone, will become the guy willing to take the least amount of money using the cheapest rig he can get financed.

AB5 is simply a law that says if you drive a truck and all your work is for one company, and your route is nothing more than a trucking route for that company, then you're an employee of that company and are entitled to all the benefits that employees are due, which includes retirement, standard pay, Healthcare, workers comp, unemployment if you get laid off, etc.

But just like the OP, boomers oppose this because they've been trained to hate unions and to suck BigCorp dick to "keep prices down". There are lots of ways to keep prices in check, but unemploying truckers and taking away their benefits isn't a legit way.

And with unions you did everything you could to drive unions out of this country in that time. Now, you want to complain about grocery prices to justify driving the unions out of trucking, too. Where the fuck are your bootstraps?
