I guess I should really say on-campus or campus-sponsored housing. The traditional dorm arrangement is much out of fashion. Older schools have them, but they've been tearing them down. More commonly now, they contract with a typical apartment company (like an MAA) to run student housing, even when they're on campus. When schools build their own, they're built more like apartments with individual bedrooms and shared living rooms. They often do not include a kitchen, since the schools feed the students although those cafeterias have become more like restaurants than traditional dining halls as well.

If anything, having an apartment-style living situation makes students more likely to fuck as they have more privacy. Apartments that are completely independent of universities are also co-ed. Actually, many literal dorms that remain have single-sex floors, particularly if they have shared bathrooms, though with all the confusion of trannies these days that must get confusing. You may have more choice over your student's roommates in a private arrangement. But not any more control over their behavior. You might have more control with them living at home.
