High earners abandon NYC, with "roughly 300,000 New York City residents left during the early part of the pandemic" and "residents who moved to other states by the time they filed their 2019 taxes collectively reported $21 billion in total income" Woke NYC is bleeding talent and money. Time to get out of NYC bonds before they default.
I used to live in New York City. The best 200k people in the city are who left. Things were declining for a few years before 2020 and that put it over the top. The nig riots finished off anyone who hadn't figured out the city was screwed yet.
If you understand the economics and dynamics of New York, it was easy to suss that everything was going to fall apart after the lockdowns destroyed the machinery that drives the city. At that point the extremely bad decision-making of the people who make up the core city became an enormous problem. New York can change and will eventually be a good city again - such cycles have played out several times in its history - it's just that it will take 5-10 years minimum, and only after the people make things worse for a few years (in progress).
Of all of the people I knew in NYC, the talented, fun, capable ones all left. The ones who are still there are largely those without any other options or whom are living in denial, or whom are hopelessly wedded to globohomo culture.
My take is that the anti-Trump movement that really started in early 2017 destroyed the city's roots and foundations. It coasted on the work of the quality people who were still there and inertia until 2020 when the things that kept good people who disagreed with these morons in the city all disappeared. The loss of this population, the lifeblood of the city, is far more significant than just any other block of people of that size.
On a psycho-social level, I believe a large contingent of the roasties and soyboys and their poser ilk have long dreamed of the city as it was in the late 70's. They all wistfully think of hanging out with Deborah Harry, having a studio in SoHO, and having underground parties with madonna, famous artists being their friends in the neighborhood, etc. They are nostalgic for the "grit" as sold to them by media for the last 30 years. They are utterly clueless about what that means, and they are getting what they wanted now. I personally believe the city will only turn around after the Empire finishes collapsing and along with it collapses the support systems that keep millions of degenerate criminals able to live there.

Really makes you think about all those old people killed by Coumo to sell the pandemic histeria.
