Once you demonize others for wanting something, you can no longer rightly justify having it yourself. And so, that which you forced onto them, sooner or later, will be forced onto you. And you will be compelled to submit.

Because resisting would require admitting that your enemy was right. That theirs was the side of righteousness. And yours, therefore, that of the villains. Most people just don't have it in themselves to admit such a thing.
