I never doubted that covid was real and BAD myself. And omicron is milder but still worse than the typical flu. So anyone who is fat or over 40 or so should take some precautions. If you dont want to wear a p100 respirator all the time there are some sanitizing protocols for your mouth and nose like nose sprays and mouthwash.
I assume omicron has run through the vaccinated urban populations pretty thoroughly (low hanging fruit) and its looking for new places to live. That may be in states where theres less vaccinated people (who presumably help spread the virus faster) but there are vaccinated people everywhere and also unvaccinated people obviously can also catch it.

There's a variety of things that could be happening. If they're using the pcr tests to test for covid, we know it gives a massive quantity of false positives, especially when someone has a flu or cold. So it could be a summer flu or cold. It could be they've made some change to the pcr testing system, look for articles saying whether or not they've made any changes of late. It could be they noticed it looked really bad that the places with the highest covid numbers are places that are heavily vaccinated, so they're fudging the numbers.
There's a lot more possibilities, but I'm not going to list them because I need to go make myself some coffee, and drink a bunch of water to stay awake.

Rapid tests come back about 50% of the time positive,(and they are already 50% of the time inaccurate) even though the person is obviously infected, so no one is sure if its actually covid. Some docs are thinking its some form of influenza.
