I've dropped 70+ pounds twice in my forty years of existence. First time was in my early 20's, got T-boned at an intersection and ejected from the car. Lost about 40 pounds in a week in the I.C.U. and the rest wasted away over the next month or so. I do not recommend that method, but it's a hell of a diet plan if you can survive it. Most recently, I moved the family out of the city and started doing farm boy shit and working construction gigs with a buddy. I've lost 70 pounds so far. No exercise other than the occasional jog around the block (3 miles) with the dogs, but I do that for the puppers more than myself.

70lb, that’s exceptional.
Good work.
Any time I’ve lost weight it’s been either natural metabolism doing nothing, or just exercise. I’ve never got results off a big diet change alone.

I, as in me, went on a 5 hour bike ride the other day. I'm paying for it today but what the heck!

Saw myself in a full length mirror trying on clothes at a local department store dressed only in shorts, I could not believe how fat I was .. I thought I was in reasonable shape, when I got home I hopped onto the bathroom scales I was 103 kilograms.

Every time I went shopping I got into the apple turnovers and cream, strawberry yogurt, ice cream and iced coffee. I stopped 'em all that was two yrs ago ..

https://i.postimg.cc/3xXydscZ/telecoms-climber-and-rigger-training-3.jpg

When I worked as a rigger in the telecommunication industry I was 78 kilos, which is recommended weight for someone of my height just a tad under 6 feet.

Today before I went out I got back on the scales I was 89 kilos exactly .. so I lost fourteen kilos in two yrs, the times I backslid onto the same sort of thing the weight went back up .. I don't work on the weights so much anymore since I shattered my shoulder in a biking accident.

The television aerobics class I did every day went off the air which put a stop to aerobics .. I would go to the gym twice a day and participate in all their classes till they shut down the gym. So when those things stopped is when weight gain happened.

I am 72 yo and ride a bike when I go shopping or go to the doctor, and just lately have been very happy that the midriff region has firmed up and all celulosity has disappeared .. I intend to keep biking and to stay away from bakery stands and ice cream vendors, and expect the kilos to keep on going down until I get back to my working weight ..

Ya it can be pretty blackpilling to realize how bad it’s gotten.

Short work long rest sprinting

[ - ] SecretHitler 1 point 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 01:35:45 ago (+1/-0)

I stay in shape, although 2019/2020 was probably the best shape I've ever been in. Lots of physical activity outdoors and weight training when I have time.

It's mostly about feeling good though, I don't really watch the scale much anymore but I like to feel strong and calm and keep that "just worked out" feeling from fading away to softness.

For food I enjoy healthier options anyway so I just try to eat as much as possible.

As Uncle Adolf secretly should.

I've found never getting out of shape to be the best approach.

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 1 point 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 02:25:32 ago (+1/-0)

Snap your spine and blow a couple discs and lose your job. It’ll happen wether you like it or not.

I am no expert, but that sounds like terrible advice.

No, it won't.

59 years old. Going on my last military deployment. I worked the fuck out. I lost 40 pounds. Yeah, I was that out of shape, but when I learned they were going to force send a young airman over the holidays to deploy? I went instead. My boys were old enough,

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 01:15:49 ago (+0/-0)

40lb, good work!
How long did that take you and what did you do?

[ - ] Thatguy 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 01:23:28 ago (+0/-0)

Went full carnivore diet. And lost most of the weight about a year before I was to deploy, but Cardio exercise in the morning, listening to W4ee ham radio podcasts. Got my amateur extra license in one go. Stress exercise in the afternoon. Listened to jesus music while lifting weights. Not religious but there is great comfort from praise jesus music. I’m white, it works.

6 months later, went to war.

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 02:13:49 ago (+0/-0)

How do you meal plan the carnivore diet?
I’ve got a couple aches and pains that it sounds like carnivore might help, but it seems impossible to imagine carnivore long term.

You’re right though, the only way to get cardio and lifting into the same day is to cardio in the morning.

[ - ] Thatguy 1 point 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 10:13:13 ago (+1/-0)

I started with a 3 meal a day plan but switched to two, I just wasn’t hungry. I like to start my day with a hard boiled egg, some bacon, and a hamburger patty with a pad of butter on it. Animal Fat is what you’re really after, that’s where you get the best nutrition. My evening meals are a rotation of pork, beef, salmon, etc. usually cooked in the bacon fat from my breakfast. I follow Dr. Ken Berry on YouTube. It’s worked out so far.

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 10:40:04 ago (+0/-0)

Thanks, I’ll look in to that.
How long have you been able to maintain carnivore?
Without going nuts or noticing any negative effects?

[ - ] Thatguy 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 21:56:04 ago (+0/-0)

Its been very easy except socially. Everybody is ordering pancakes. I’m asking for extra bacon. Once you accept that they think you’re nuts, it gets better.

There’s this canadian youtuber called vegetable police or something like that.

The guy is pretty funny but all he does is go from diet to diet and describes his experience.
It sounds lame but he’s never had a cheat day in his life and seems to utterly master each one, and describes everything from aches and pains, weight gain or loss, toe nail growth, skin irritation or just fart smell.

It’s pretty funny but he had multiple issues of every kind on every diet like juice fasting, veganism etc. Until he went carnivore, then suddenly he says he had no notable issues after the first few weeks figuring out what to eat. And he naturally started filling out the vegan death body and started becoming muscular and looked great, on the same lite exercise regiment he does on all diets
Was Interesting to watch.

[ - ] Thatguy 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 11:27:19 ago (+0/-0)

I had one bad day on the carnivore diet, about two weeks in, my body flushed out something. It was painful and awful. I thought was going to die, lol. After that, I felt great. I’m guessing I flushed the gut bacteria that digested fiber and carbs, don’t need it.

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 21:40:57 ago (+0/-0)

Ya I’ve heard of the carnivore flush.

From all the ill effects I’ve heard from different diets, carnivore effects seem to be clearly the most mild.
Or at least the most generally simple to adjust for.
A list of vegan side effects reads like a 20th round Covid shot disclaimer. Like 30 types of cancer, brain degeneration, sexual attraction to minors, death, near death, thoughts of death, wishing death on all non vegans, impotence, delusions that Veganism is good for you, wild alterations to Testosterone and estrogen levels, love for jews… and diarrhea.

[ - ] Thatguy 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 21:52:10 ago (+0/-0)

I’ll be real here. I poop every other day. It’s a little compressed turd. Sorry for being brutally honest. It’s great and doesn’t stink. I was hit with Covid weathered it well. Y immune system was firing on all cylinders. Now I have the natural immunity.

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 30, 2022 02:07:12 ago (+0/-0)

Hard shits that don’t stink is about as good a sign your body is utilizing nutrients as it gets.

[ - ] beece 1 point 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 00:39:53 ago (+1/-0)*

Dropped 19 lbs in 5 months. Started the Zone/Keto diet, and also started working out daily on weekdays and have turned some built up Covid sit around do nothing fat buildup back into muscle. People didn't think I was fat before. I don't do well on a strict diet, having drank half a bottle of wine, 2 beers and a pint of ice cream after dinner repeatedly, but generally eat fairly good.

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 01:17:59 ago (+0/-0)*

Not bad.
Any specific meal plan you’d suggest other then just “zone/Keto”?
I’ve always been able to work out the physical discipline, but with diet I’ve always needed to have an exact meal plan laid out for me.

[ - ] beece 1 point 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 10:10:29 ago (+1/-0)

@3Whuurs Buy a used hardcover of "The Zone Collection". $2.95 (plus shipping, handling, tax, license, dealer markup etc) on Amazon. It has all the zone stuff including the Zone meal plan and recipe book. I don't use that part, but at the time the book was .99/cents -best money I ever spent.

Good luck Brother! https://www.amazon.com/Zone-Collection-Barry-Sears/dp/0060533498/ref=sr_1_8?crid=RS16KVR41IGT&keywords=zone+diet+collection&qid=1656511700&s=books&sprefix=zone+diet+collection%2Cstripbooks%2C112&sr=1-8

Try intermittent fasting as well. Basically only consume foods during an 8hour or less window each day, then only water/tea/coffee the rest of the time

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 10:37:17 ago (+0/-0)

I’ve intermittent fasted my entire life.
Not sure it’s helped but I’ve always done it.
Always been muscular and often dropped 15-20lb just with seasonal metabolism changes alone, no diet or exercise, so maybe it has.
I’ve never been able to eat breakfast so as long as I stop eating by 8pm I’ve 16hr fasted since probably 5th grade.

[ - ] ItsOk2bArian 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 14:01:38 ago (+0/-0)

Nice, maybe you need to step it up since your body is already adapted. Try having a full fasting day once or twice a week. I have friends that are doing a cleanse at the moment and seem to be happy with the results. Their particular system involves eating once per day with a full 24 hours in between meals. No single diet works for everyone, just consider your genetic predisposition and find what works well for your body. Short term vegan works good for some, while full carnivore works for others

Broke my back a few years ago and became impossible to stay in shape.
Got pretty bad, but been pretty motivated lately and finally finished setting up a pretty sweet home gym.
So it should be a good summer.

[ - ] SecretHitler 2 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 01:40:28 ago (+2/-0)

There's a special satisfaction from coming back from an injury. Makes you value everything more.

Enjoy the new gym, I'm jealous!

[ - ] 3Whuurs [op] 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 02:43:17 ago (+0/-0)

Thanks.
I dropped 80lb in 3 months when I was 20, so I know what the come back feels like.

[ - ] paul_neri 0 points 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 04:02:43 ago (+0/-0)

You ain't wrong.I'm praying my gammy knee has sustained an injury rather than arthritis. I read the knee likes exercise so I went on a long bike ride (ultimately 5 hours) and thought either the knee pain kills me or it's not too bad. Thankfully the latter but I'm not out of the woods so...I dunno. But yes...I'm wondering if I'll ever mow a lawn again.

[ - ] SecretHitler 1 point 1.8 yearsJun 29, 2022 09:17:33 ago (+1/-0)

My knees used to suck and I was worried working up to heavier squats and deadlifts would make them worse but I was surprised when it made the pain go away and it's never come back.

finally finished setting up a pretty sweet home gym.

A new convert to the home gym! Enjoy the short commute times, the clean benches, the put-away weights, and the friendly atmosphere!

My dog likes to come down to watch me work out, so I end up doing warmups with him. It can be a lot of fun.

Do you have a stereo/tv system? I find it better to work out without headphones and doing cardio it can help to have something to watch (that I've downloaded, fuck cable).
