Maybe ask yourself why whoever is funding this "free" service, which is promoted among dissident websites, funneling their traffic through a single point, would be trying so hard to block all anonymous access.
It doesn't work for anyone who anonymizes their traffic. Which ought to be everyone who has any amount of sense. Maybe catbox is bought. But it doesn't block anonymized traffic. Archive does.
It's possible to find ways that work. But they keep blocking more and more of them. Things that used to work don't anymore. Used to be they didn't block anything at all. I used it to archive things too, back then. But continuing to use a service that tries so hard to force you to reveal your real IP is foolish.
It isn't and was never used by "pretty much every user" on voat. Not like this. That's facetious hyperbole and simple false. The majority of links posted have always been plain links. Sometimes content that was likely to be censored would get an archive link, along with the real link. Often as a comment. If memory serves, the derram user/bot used to do that on a lot of posts. But the main link was still the real one, as is only sensible. Posting the main link as an archive was quite rare and, again, back then it didn't block anonymous traffic.
This pushing of forced archive.is usage, by only posting the archive link, and refusing to provide original links, even though you could just provide the archive link in the description, or vice versa, is a fairly new development. It's only done by a handful of posters, like yourself. And it's doubly suspicious that it comes now, after they started banning anonymous access.

The reason archiving sites became a thing is because MSM and leftards could block content behind paywalls, or remove access to sites, simply delete published content or geo-block content for users.
It was increasingly common for sites and articles that users linked to be dead after a day, providing it received good traffic on a forum.
What do you recommend as an alternative archive site?
Try another VPN other than hidestar which is rubbish and see if you get the same results. I don't think it's the case of archive sites blocking true anonymised traffic, its just that you're using a trash VPN.
Even ZenMate is subpar and I havent had an issue accessing archived articles.
edit: I just did a test with two more VPNs and connected to Romania and Luxembourg to test the theory, after Captcha it literally just loaded the archive.is and archive.ph links in succession.
Not everything is a jewish ploy, you are just using your browser extensions wrong.

Fine nigger, you only needed to ask. I'll try to post both from now on. The original, if posting true to source and not a snip and an archive one for posteriety, for when the leftardians deny access.
Hidester was just an example, not what I use or would recommend. Was simply one of the first options that popped up when searching for something free that you could try to see for yourself.
I know how get the captchas working, but they are part of the problem. That's a whole can of worms in itself. Long story short, they shouldn't be required to simply view a page. Anyway...
Fine nigger, you only needed to ask. I'll try to post both from now on.
Ask is what I did, no? Said please, even. And thanks, that would be much appreciated.
Posts playing up again, here is the rest of the intro:
People are the problem to be solved and not served, which tells you everything you need to know about the mindset of this enduring, pernicious, tax scam agenda.

Please post real links.

What browser are you using where it doesn't work for you?

You can try for yourself, on any browser, using a web proxy like this: https://hidester.com/proxy/
