I really like Varg's ambient albums, but I don't care for black metal much. I prefer the slow, sludgy riffs and operatic vocals of doom. Really the only genre of metal I listen to regularly.
Sabbath started it all for me (like many people), which got me into stuff like Candlemass, Kyuss, Sleep, etc. Recently discovered Kal-El and the stoner/doom/space rock subgenre which I really enjoy now.
Always been a dnd nerd, so I was looking up ambient dungeon synth on youtube, and that's what introduced me to Burzum oddly enough. I own a few ambient records (Orgship by Solar Quest being my favorite). Just ran into Brian Eno's Another Green World today though while antiquing, so I'm excited about popping that on the record player.
