As an old guy, I remember back in the 90s when they really started pushing the climate change hoax a guy had a website (I can't find now) that traveled around to survey NOAAA reporting stations. At the time there were 11,000+ reporting stations. To be a reporting station you could apply to NOAA and they would send you some money and instructions on how to place the equipment, surrounding surface, proximity to structures, etc. The last time I check was in the late 90s, the guy and visited 1500 reporting stations and 78% were improperly place, such as in the middle of a asphalt parking lot, up against a south facing building wall, on a roof next to an A/C unit and so on.
