If you don't have insurance, get a new phone. That battery replacement will turn into a screen replacement and probably not worth the phone. Use what little charge you have to download all your important things, because after they pull your old battery and break your screen in the process, you will no longer have access to the phones memory.

You can easily transfer your number to your new phone. If you are staying with the same carrier they’ll just pop out the SIM card and put it in your new phone. Switching Carriers has a few more steps but you can keep your number.

Hiya mate, thanks for the input .. ok so the charging situ got worse and worse while airplane mode never helped .. so yesterday morning after having the iP plugged into the charger all night it was down to 1%, I took it back to the place I bought it they tested it and told me my old fashioned charger was at fault, that I must purchase a new cable and a "brick" charger for 37$, which is a lot cheaper than buying a new iPhone.

So I did that and when I plugged it in it worked like a beauty, it took just about 2 hrs to go from 1% to 100% .. ok so we got that fixed, the other problem is when I start up there can be up to about 9 minutes of false starts and "Aw Snaps" before we get a secure connection, not so many when it is at 100% but it still happens .. the day I brought the device home 4 yrs ago it did the same and nearly drove me mad .. the consensus on the i'net is "just persevere" there is no quick fix .. cheers :)

The wire might be semi broke. Test it on another device. Try a Dollar Tree replacement.

You must smash it with a sledge hammer.

There is no way to retain your number because life is fleeting, france is bacon, and flies are only tiny birds. And birds aren't real!

I've heard birds were fake and ghey.

Go to settings / battery/ battery health.

That will tell you if your battery is near dead.

Being that it is not charging, you probably want to turn off “optimized battery charging”, as then it takes forever to charge, which is supposed to protect the longevity of the battery.

It's the feds trying to drive you nuts! Don't accept any offer of a free phone.

[ - ] beece 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 13, 2022 00:41:19 ago (+0/-0)

Try a hard reboot. If that doesn't work, do a soft reboot. If that doesn't work you'll have to hit it with the hammer like Lord Nougat suggested. After you've hammered for a bit, double check that you backed it up first. You can guess how that's going to go.
