Free speech isn't what people think it is, and most people are relative morons. Freedom of speech is something experiential that tends to exist for a brief spat of time at the start of any kind of social organization (anywhere, not just online). That freedom wanes with time, without exception. A site like Voat maintained the freedom - in the strictest sense - to make text posts saying anything you wanted (with a few caveats).

But what does that freedom mean? What is it doing? If it isn't connecting you to a group of likeminded people then it is doing nothing, and if all it is doing is connecting you to a bunch of morons who think saying nigger and kike freely is accomplishing something in the world, then we might even think of this freedom as being counteractive to the kinds of processes that make an efficacious group (capable of doing something).

There has to be shit that a group of people agree is right and shit that the same people agree is off-limits. Otherwise you just have a recipe for mouthing off. Free speech is also relativism. Nothing is ever objectively right, because someone else is free to say otherwise, and someone else still could come along and say the latest person is also wrong. It's a recipe for a cork board that people can pin sheets of paper to as they walk by.

True freedom of speech is, therefore, characteristic of an unorganized and undirected phenomenon, where people independently bounce in and out just to mouth off. If that's all anybody wanted, great. But the arbitrariness and lack of action has become apparent - as we've all continued to say the same exact shit, over and over again ad nauseum, while nothing changes.

We say the same things over and over again because those are the things that crystallized into fundamental truth from countless arguments over the span of years on old Voat. Yes it is stale but life’s manifestly undisputed truths often are. Old Voat was a place of dialogue and learning because so many people were for the first time encountering ideas that challenged the pillars of their reality. It’s that challenge that created the dialogue. Those pillars were vanquished and in their place erected little mounds of ineffectual vitriol. In order for new pillars fashioned upon our perspective our ideas have to be made palatable to the masses. So exactly how do you win over the hearts and minds of the average man? The same way we were won over. Ultimately we aren’t so unaverage as we sometimes like to think. The only feasible method for using free speech in a way that is doing something is to take the spirit of old Voat and bring it to the haunts of the uninitiated. That means all the places you might get belittled here for using (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook). Once truth has been firmly established, as ours has, the only next step is to bring it to more people. Otherwise it just dies in an echo chamber of kike and nigger bouncing off the walls until we have to walk out of the room.
