It is. I like it very much. Despite how simple it sounds, Satie's music, particularly the Gnosiennes and the Gymnopedies, are difficult to play on the piano because it requires a great delicacy of touch to get the acoustics right. I could never do it.

Satie wrote during a period where the classical style was being replaced by modernism, where composers such as Debussy and Ravel experimented with new harmonies and rhythms. Satie was a much lower level composer of either of these, but his music did have a place for the times. While some of his music didn't have a tonal center, it still seemed to have a consistent harmonic structure, unlike other modernists such as Stravinsky, who wanted to push the extent of where harmony left off and dissonance could find a place.

His very simple piano arrangements lend themselves easily to other arrangements, and many have been done impressively such as this one.

I've always enjoyed Satie. He called his pieces "furniture music", as in he wanted it to be ambient, atmospheric music to be heard in the background. He also referred to himself as a "phonometrician"!
