Only people following this war closely know the Ukranians are fighting like the Taliban. They forcibly take over civilian homes and get them blown up. They take civilians hostage. They torture and kill Russian soldiers they capture. Russia has changed their tactics because of their brutality. If the Ukranians were fighting honorably at all, many thousands of civilians would still be alive/have homes.
