It can be a lot to learn, but I suggest getting your own personal service online. Short of also running your own hardware/infrastructure, it at least opens up your search to include VPS/server providers where more choice is available.

I'm used to getting OpenVPN services online, though I know that Wireguard is the new thing to use now.
