Here's the deal, people get killed all the time, and people kill all the time, so whenever the media tries to get you to care about some victim or perpetrator of some crime, ask yourself why it is thatbthey are trying to get you to care about this particular incident.
Same goes for celebrity trials, divorce, defamation, etc. All happen usually in the absence of any media attention, yet this case was in the spotlight, so you should be asking yourself why the media wants you to care about it.
What does the media think they can make happen by convincing people to give a fuck about a pair of mentally-ill middle-aged adults who are professionals at playing pretend for a living having a messy divorce and then taking each other to court about the fallout of it?
My thoughts on the case?
Among the careers that have an overrepresentation of psychopaths and individuals with dark triad traits is artists, chiefly those involved in theater or acting.
Why are psychos drawn to acting? Because like being a CEO, it allows you to exert undue influence upon others, so many people believe many political or legal policies are dooned to fail purely because they've repeatedly seen fiction in which it fails. Peoples minds are mostly decoded by the fictional narratives they've consumed, most people firm their entire worldview of reality from what they see in movies, TV shows, storybooks, and the like. Fiction has a far greater power over most human perspectives than any other force in our society.
Acting also ties into many traits that psychos tend to possess, such as superficial charm and pathological deception, acting is a career that could be described as lying for living; you are pretending to be someone you aren't, being somewhere you aren't, doing something you aren't, because of reasons or events that are also not true, etc. You lie to people with their permission, the audience knows you are lying and is in fact paying you to do it well, but it's still lying for a living.
The fact that entertainment is chock full of cluster b personality disorders, particularly the narcissistic and antisocial personality disorders, has a greater significance because it tells us the kind of people that a disproportionate number of actors are. Bad people.
When I hear about beloved actors doing some royally fuckrd up shit, it doesn't surprise me, especially because the most loved actors are the ones most likely to have antisocial personality disorder, a psychopath is going to be very good at acting, and very drawn to the career as well.
