I don't need to. I have some renting a few houses down and can almost smell them from here. They work on their shit vehicles in the street and let them leak oil all over the newly paved road. you take the firearm out of the holster/console/glovebox/purse and you place it under your right(left) thigh just before the knee. if/when you need it the tool is right there unencumbered and it's not going anywhere due to your weight unless you want it to. eyes on all three mirrors, all the time, head on a swivel, left, right, forward.

I think OP raises a valid question, and one that not enough of us are asking.
