I always confront the officer tell them it's a tax and not doing anything especially when it'd 11 mph over the limit or something minor. Thrn I tell them can't wait to see you in court I'm self employed and have plenty of free time.. ohhh I know you will be there busy because you get paid time and half to sit on your ass and lie to citizen about the danger I caused by going 11 mph over the speed limit! Give me a break see ya there buddy

They don't show up many times and ticket gets dismissed or you drag it out tell the prosecutor you are not prepared need another week wink at the cop if he showed up and try to keep moving it around worse case? You pay the original ticket amount best case cop is on vacation it gets dropped

I thank them for their service and have a thin blue line sticker on the back of my truck. I’ve gotten off without a ticket many times.

It probably follows from mens rea. A guilty conscience requires intent to harm or at least indifference to causing harm, and harm requires a harmed party. That said, society is often claimed to be the victim even when society is merely a body-double for the state. This is authoritarian in nature.

This concept is further amplified by the definition of personal liberty:

"Personal liberty largely consists of the Right of locomotion -- to go where and when one pleases -- only so far restrained as the Rights of others may make it necessary for the welfare of all other citizens. The Right of the Citizen to travel upon the public highways and to transport his property thereon, by horse drawn carriage, wagon, or automobile, is not a mere privilege which may be permitted or prohibited at will, but the common Right which he has under his Right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Under this Constitutional guarantee one may, therefore, under normal conditions, travel at his inclination along the public highways or in public places, and while conducting himself in an orderly and decent manner, neither interfering with nor disturbing another's Rights, he will be protected, not only in his person, but in his safe conduct."
