Helium Shortage

Retailers from Dollar Tree to Party City are warning about a helium shortage. There's even a shortage of the gas

Kids parties will have to switch to hydrogen. Hindenburg-balloons

I know NASA consumes a fuck ton of helium, I mean, look into it and you'll be surprised.

That aside...it would be easier to list the things that aren't in a "shortage"...it's stupid at this point. It's genuinely comical.

How long can "the masses" just keep going with the motions? Are we at least close to a breaking point yet?

People are still eating. So not yet.

People are still eating.

And that's about all they're doing because of the general price of food now...I'm wondering how long that will last.

If this shit was happening a 100 years ago, it’d be over already. Most people are too comfortable now. When they aren’t comfortable, we’ll see? Maybe? Or they might just take the government cheese.

Comfortable, drugged, purposefully distracted and literally hypnotized by their TVs.

This is the problem, they are just comfortable enough not to do anything.

Last I heard the Russian petroleum industry isn't capturing helium right now.

Good, the idiots need to stop with the helium balloons. Suck a nigger thing. FFS they release them every time a nigger is goodified and it kills wildlife

That's unfortunate to hear. Helium suffocation was my going to be my exit plan. If you hang yourself or suffocate your body has a hypercapnic alarm response where your brain starts to panic due to lack of oxygen and fights to survive. This is where you hear of someone who has put a bag over their head to suffocate themselves will involuntarily tear the bag off when the hypercapnic alarm response kicks in. Either way your last moments are filled with panic and fear and terror.

Helium suffocation alleviates this problem. If you place a bag over your head and insert a tube feeding in helium it will displace the oxygen in the bag and you will lose consciousness in seconds therefore you won't be awake for the hypercapnic alarm response. You just drift off to sleep and never wake up. I've suffered an enormous amount in my life. So much so that I've actually taken the time to research things like this for when I'm ready to go. I don't want a lifetime of pain to end in panic and terror. I even made a joke to myself about it. When things get bad I would say "time to go to Party City."

This has happened in recent years. At least a few times in my adult life.

Helium is a non-renewable resource. We can't produce any and once released into the atmosphere it escapes into space. I use it for deep diving and it's getting more and more expensive.

[ - ] allahead 1 point 2.9 yearsMay 28, 2022 19:17:03 ago (+1/-0)

Helium is the alpha radiation by-product of nuclear fusion occurring in and around the Earth's core.

Yeah "renewable" over 5 million light years

I use to do that as a kid. We'd make it in a soda bottle and collected it in balloons. Tie a string to the balloon, light the tag end of the string and goodness gracious great balls of fire.

Wow, I've never seen that one before. Equal parts entertaining and depressing, especially that last one.

As long as it's whores getting arrested I support it.

I get the impression cops do prostitution enforcement because people complain about it a lot.

Around here "urban pioneers" move to nigger neighborhoods, taking their little kids with 'em, then they complain that there's junkies and prostitutes out on the street all night.

Oxy-acetylene gas mix in balloons is like a percussion grenade. It will 100% blow out your ears, so be careful. Use safe, long distance detonation methods, like short-circuit the far end of an extension chord.

It's dirty hydrogen, but it still floats balloons and will explode. I can't remember off the top of my head the exact difference, but it's like H1 vs H2 or something similar that doesn't really matter to someone just wanting to light balloons on fire.

I will say my wife is never happy seeing the bathtub full of bottles with balloons on the top when my kids and I are up to something.

Your wife needs a better sense of humor.

lye (sodium hydroxide)

Cool, that means you can make it with potassium hydroxide, which can be refined from wood ash. Sodium hydroxide is a bit of a pain in the ass to manufacture at unga bunga tech.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 2 points 2.9 yearsMay 28, 2022 22:38:43 ago (+2/-0)

That'll work, also if you that potassium hydroxide to some type of fat you can make soap. Emaciated kikes at winter camp won't work, not enough fat.

[ - ] s23erdctfvyg 1 point 2.9 yearsMay 28, 2022 22:48:34 ago (+1/-0)

Emaciated kikes at winter camp won't work, not enough fat.

I mean obviously, but who would make soap out of things they find disgusting, can you imagine the smell?

[ - ] Aze 0 points 2.9 yearsMay 28, 2022 16:47:08 ago (+0/-0)

This is fine for hydrogen. Or you could just do water electrolysis. But this isn't an answer to the helium shortage, which of course is used for other things then party balloons. Like medical scanning equipment.

Its my understand that helium (being a noble gas) only comes from rock deep underground where it is sequestered after it is produced via radioactive decay of uranium in the crust. As soon as we use it, it escapes into space, hence the shortage.

It’s retarded that we sell helium in balloons. Helium is very important in the medical and scientific industry and we can’t go around wasting it in balloons that offer no utility value.

[ - ] Belrick 0 points 2.9 yearsMay 28, 2022 20:05:43 ago (+0/-0)

And helium is expensive to make and store and with limited access to base sources
