This story hit like a ton of bricks. Hell of a guy from the sounds of it. Losing a loved one to suicide has got to be one of the worst experiences possible. My family is small and tight. I really can't imagine what it would be like to lose one of them now, by any means.

I lost my dad in my teens, and it changed me forever. I miss him.

I hope I never have to try to be this strong. I don't think she'd ever commit suicide, we are far too close. Accidents do happen though, and losing friends in my teens and in the service has been difficult.

This is why I love her and our boy so much. Best thing ever, being a dad.

It's good for you, seriously. Lack of corporal punishment has created this world of mindfuck as punishment instead (e.g. humiliation/shame, 'timeouts' which is all prison is, isolation which will eventually make you crazy, etc). Now they've extended it to animals, e.g. spraying cats with water bottles, hissing at dogs, etc. Just hit the fuckers, its the most direct and most natural way.

Dads need to step up and bring back the old ways. And you'll get over it eventually, and see you've become better for it. I have a great relationship with my dad.
