So linux has had multiple desktops since the 90s. Tiling windows managers are also a thing.

App stores? Linux had repositories first, and lets you configure them to use whatever source you want, not just Window's curated garden.

Looking to the internet to install printer drivers in one click instead of needing a cd? Linux had it before windows.

A sensible shell? Linux had it first.

Considering Win 7 does pretty much anything you need, there is nothing any new version of windows can do that isn't just copying Linux. You can get what will be new in windows 10 years from now today.

Ten years from now windows will be advertising that you can launch a shell and have it continue to run in the background, and pull it back up at any time. Or that you can install custom desktop interfaces. Or that you can mount multiple different protocols of networked directories to any folder. They will act like it's a big leap forward. You will get maybe two of those and it will be 20 years late.

We all know that. Normies will never install another os on the device they bought. I remember when i installed arch for the first time, it took two days(a lot of issues i didn't know). Now it takes 2-3 hours to install everything(half of the time i just wait the downloads). People don't want to take the baby steps. Don't want to feel embarrassed that they are stupid at new things.

I doubt that will happen. People want only one solution.
Oh and people in general will never use the shell. It's not flashy enough.

Yes omg they're finally coming to a place where I can actually go see them.

I asked my husband can it be like an early 20th anniversary present to ourselves but ugh you can't buy the tickets yet and it doesn't even show how much they are going to be.

I checked and their shows range from like 20 something to 100 and something. So fingers crossed it's somewhere in the middle.

Edit* AHHHHH I just checked again tickets are open to buy now and they're not ridiculously expensive. WOOOO now let's hope the world doesn't go to complete shit before then .
