I was gonna say I haven't had hubcaps in years... Even on my beaters, I'd put decent wheels and tires on 'em.

I had a Michelin go out on me at speed one time. I think there was something in the road, but I'm not sure because it was dark on the highway. The sidewall held together so well it took out part of my wheel well. And I pretty much just pulled over. The damage was like an accident, though. The insurance company were dicks about it, claiming that stuff the shop said had to be done to repair the car wasn't covered by a full-coverage policy.

You should see one of the vehicles I have: 1981 Chevrolet C10 2WD with standard steel rims. I'm covering them with stainless steel hubcaps from a 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88. (There's even an Oldsmobile logo stamped right into the center of each one.) I tell people I stole them from a nigger.

Not too bad. Straight six with a two-barrel carb and a manual transmission. I even have it overloaded with service tools and supplies. I haven't taken the keys out of the ignition in decades. I tell people if they can drive it then they can have it. No takers — yet.

Not really. I guarantee you can take all 5 lug nuts off and the only way it would come off that wheel is if it gets t-boned by another car. There is no way that wheel would come off otherwise unless you start driving the car. And even then I bet you could get a block or more if you're going straight.
