Understanding why Germany invaded Poland

submitted by BlueEyedAngloMasterRaceGod to History 2.0 yearsMay 23, 2022 17:14:11 ago (+15/-2)     (History)

It's difficult to know which side is lying about their claims around 1939 (although 'our' side doesn't even tell us what the german argument is save for a radio station bombing so that should be a big hint).

However, admitted history in 1921 demonstrates a preview of the exact claims Hitler would later make, that Polish militias were slaughtering germans en masse in what should have been german land as was democratically voted on.

If by voted to be part of Germany you mean were forcibly annexed in the coalitions of the 18th century, under the Kingdom of Prussia which then joined the German Confederation in the formation of the German Empire, then sure. Of course the people living in those annexed Polish territories probably wouldn't have called it sovereignty let alone a popular vote. Not that you really care, you just want to justify Germany's invasion as something more than just strategic warfare, which it wasn't. Not like nations will ever fabricate reasons to attack other nations, after all Bush totally found all those WMDs in Iraq that he knew didn't exist. Must be nice to forgive government agression so easily when you are a fan boy of that government. And you know even if Polish militants were persecuting Germans living there after Poland's reinstatement, it might just be because they had been subjugated against thier will for 50 years, but let's just ignore that. Not like anyone would be humiliated and angry after losing a war and forced into unfavorable terms were your nation and cultural identity are superceded by the occupying force. Gosh that sounds vaugely familiar. A shame that history doesn't record such an instance for comparison. The only hypocrisy here is yours.
