Exactly. Gloves aren't some magical germ-killer. They protect your own hands from things you touch, and when you put a clean pair on it's like you just washed your hands. Once you start touching things with the gloves, they will spread that to everything else you touch. Gloves wouldn't make much of a difference here.

I suppose they can help if you're dealing with soapy things all day that would dry your skin and cause it to crack. The gloves won't develop this problem. When I'm wearing gloves I'll wash them with soap and water, as if I'm washing my hands. You see people at food places touching food, then touching money, all in gloves. Nope.

That really is the worst thing about gloves. They protect your hands from things you touch. So your tolerance for things you will touch without paying much attention to it goes up. When you are dead fucking busy that is a bad combination.

Yeah, gloves are the sanitary equivalent of security theater. I remember reading years ago that apart from giving the illusion of cleanliness, they actually pick up and harbor more bacteria, since bare skin has at least some minimal level of antibacterial defense. Of course, it means jack all when you're a dirty spic that couldn't care less about sanitation.

And people wonder why they countries they come from are made of raw sewage.

They have some use for people who can't constantly wash their hands due to skin issues. Even then you have to constantly change them out.
