Here's a philosophical question for y'all:

Is fashion essentially about adding adornment to the human body, or removing it? Or does fashion transcend the clothing, i.e. is it something abstract?

When I saw this post, my first thought was: "Isn't it fucking obvious that every new trend in fashion is a not subtle way of making people more naked?"

I thought: how annoying this steady march is. Every new trend is just one incremental step in showing more tits/ass/pussy.

Then it occurred to me that this seems to be the reverse trend of fashion from the beginning. The value of someone being fashionable in times past was a kind of beauty/status signal about how attractively they could clothe their bodies. We went from naked, to being attractive by covering up. Nakedness would have been viewed as slavishness.

So there is also this element of change in what is sexually attractive: in the past, things favored wealth/status. The more covered up and beautifully adorned a woman's body was, the more she was signaling protection. Like a piece of valued treasure some wealthy man wanted wrapped up. This is not just for sexual protection - through an evolutionary psychological lens, clothing was a technology for protecting us from parasites and other harms, but the sexual element is there too: a woman indirectly signals her chastity and the degree to which she is sexually protected from random males by the degree to which her pussy and other bits are concealed.

Now, there has been a shift toward immodesty, toward the reverse swing of exposing herself.

I think there has to be a collective, unconscious perception of both (a) complete safety (decoupling her from the natural order of sexual threats / risk), and (b) of rebelling against customs. Where in the past people were 'rebelling' against nature, in order to transcend it and get ourselves away from the commonality of the primitives, now people are rebelling against civilization and all of the 'small slights' on our behaviors: like flaunting tits and ass in every possible social context is a right society has been keeping women from.

If there is any truth to this, it's pretty obvious the direction this sign is pointing. It's clearly anti-social.

I swear to God, if I am out with my family, the first time I see a nigger and her sistas walk in with their grotesque asses hanging out of these, I'm gonna lose it. All of this also strikes me like dangling primate sexuality in the faces of civilized white people. Like the power move is to put a nigger woman twerking her ass out there in front of your kids. An assault on your values in the most vapid and grotesque form possible.

Now I'm reminded of that highly circulated post which talks about a nigger twerking on the ruins of the west.

But maybe there is also something like fate in this, the fate of civilizations. If rebellion against our fate as animals in nature was the significance of beginning to cover up in the past, then the ability to 'get naked' today is like the consummation of overcoming nature. We're so safe now, we did such a good job with this civilization thing, that now we can flaunt the fact we don't even need to be cautious anymore.

Particularly in the case of women, there is a sociological claim being broadcast: "We have been wedded to the husband called The State; we are protected from our sexual immorality. We no longer need human husbands. We're married to the abstraction, and therefore we are risen above nature, held up on a platform by the civilization you created. We can even raise the beasts of the field and flaunt their dark anatomy, immodestly and in your most sacred places."
