I was actually contemplating wether the evolution of the word faggot is a subtle attack on fascism. The fasces was a symbol of strength through unity. So naturally, your enemies want to see the symbols associated with your ancestors' greatness appear to be perverted in some way. Look what they've done to the American Flag over the past two generations.

Wouldnt surprise me.

I think the 'bundle of sticks' definition has been around for quite a while.

[ - ] dalai_llama 1 point 2.0 yearsMay 15, 2022 20:27:35 ago (+1/-0)

And then after Mussolini successfully used the symbols of his ancestors to politically mobilize his base in 1919, the English word associated with the fasces rapidly adopted a derogatory meaning. Now we have anonymous people making gay jokes about one of the most profound, world shaping symbols our people have had the privilege to witness.

Go figure.

I know. It's literally the same thing. The fasci has been used both with and without blades to represent authority. The Lincoln memorial has two giant faggots on the front of his chair.

Poor guy deserves a better city named after him.

Couldn't agree more. That said, most cities are dumps these days due to jew-nigger degeneracy.

That's the kind of person they should teach about in schools

I suppose George Washington is portrayed this way. Dude could have been de facto dictator for life and instead set the two term precedent

[ - ] parrygrin 3 points 2.0 yearsMay 15, 2022 00:44:09 ago (+3/-0)

Washington specifically mentioned Cincinnatus in his farewell address.

Damn that's awesome, thanks for the history tidbit!

Part of that was also just how disgusted and disillusioned he was after having to play the executive role and be immediately attacked. Jefferson would be even more upset by this very thing.

[ - ] giantprick 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 15, 2022 03:08:01 ago (+0/-0)

Fair, but even to be disillusioned like him is actually an amazing trait of character

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 14, 2022 21:42:02 ago (+0/-0)

I think it needs revision.

Make them accountable for their promises made during election time. And like any other job if you dont keep up your KPIs aka your promises to the American people prior to the primaries we should have the option to replace the president via another election.

In principle I agree with you, but also our idiotic NPC masses would just be played against themselves. Imagine if someone like Trump got in and the Jews in power could just cancel the outsider option entirely (not that Trump was exactly that, but hopefully you get what I mean)

The US Congress used to be a part time job. Until they figured out it could be made profitable using the backs of their countrymen.

Better remove that statue too. Since he wasn't black.

Romans are pretty dark.

[ - ] DonaldJTrump 2 points 2.0 yearsMay 14, 2022 19:29:14 ago (+2/-0)

Sicilians are dark because of Islamists. Northern Italians are pretty fair. Especially the Milanese. Ancient Romans were not dark.

This happened multiple times through out Roman history.

Thanks for taking the time to name even one example.

The office of dictator was one the senate voted on and it had a traditional length of six months, after which the senate would have to decide whether or not they should extend the dictatorship period.

The most notable instance in which the office of dictator was effectively implemented was the resolution of the first Roman civil war between Marius and Sulla. However, Sulla was made dictator for an indefinite period of time because no one knew how long it would take to placate the Marian faction. During this time, many supporters of Marius, including Julius Caesar, were added to proscription roles. If your name was added to this list, you became and enemy of the state and it was every Roman citizen's duty to kill you or aid in killing you. If they did kill you, they got to keep half of your stuff. This obviously led to many unscrupulous actors exploiting the proscription system simply to steal other peoplr's wealth. Julius Caesar managed to get his allies to convince Sulla to pardon him, which is funny because Caesar would eventually achieve the office of dictator as well.

However, Sulla eventually stepped down from the dictatorship after appointing himself as one of the two consuls for the following year. After his consulship expired, instead of taking up the governership of a province as was the custom, he retired from public life altogether.

He is forever remembered for the proscriptions that he authorized and the terror it instilled on the people; but this was in response to Marius actually invading the city of Rome with Greek mercenaries and outright killing his political opponents without question.

Trouble is he's the exception. Rome had a lot more dictators who tried to hold on to power than ones willing to give it up.

[ - ] dalai_llama 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 15, 2022 12:36:40 ago (+0/-0)

The office of dictator had a six month span, after which it had to be renewed. The two exceptions were Sulla, who did step down after serving as dictator for about 2 years, and Julius Caesar who was assassinated during his dictatorship.

After Caesar was assassinated the republic had essentially transformed into a military autocracy and any further examples of dictators are moot.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 15, 2022 12:45:02 ago (+0/-0)

That's my point. The dictators kept just pushing the envelope until eventually they were kings in all but name. Which is exactly what the republicans feared.

It seems a bit evasive to just say "Caesar was assasinated during his dictatorship" as if he planned to step down after a few months. He stuffed the senate with his supporters and had them declare him dictator for life, then he had mark anthony attempt to crown him and someone sneak a statue of him into the area reserved for statues of kings.

The spartans had permanent kings but they did a much better job of keeping them in line. The ephor system worked pretty well.
