Pomegranate!

Was out mowing the yard when a bit of red caught my eye on the pomegranate bush. I bought a couple bare root plants a few years back, basically looked like a little stick with some roots dangling off the end. One didn't make it through the first winter, but the other kept struggling back the past few years. The bush is now a little over 6 feet tall, and this is the first time it's flowered/fruited. I'm pretty pysched about it. Hopefully, I'll have a picture to share this fall of a mature fruit.

Saving a plant that's just about to die is fun, AND you get pomegranates.

It's a good feeling when your garden rewards you. Pomegranates are pretty cool.

Congrats man! The bush looks looks very happy and healthy. In my experience, with great genetics (and a bit of luck), the runtiest of fruit plants often go on to become the best producers. So good on ya!

Pomegranate is my favorite fruit. I will eat that shit until my body rebels. Not sure I live in the right climate to grow though... I make due with apples and pears though.

Thanks for sharing!

Pretty! Makes me want to plant some rose bushes around my driveway to slow down niggers breaking into my car

Awesome, what cultivar?

Angel Red, Mollar de Elche, Wonderful or one of those dirty arab types?

I'm not sure at this point, but looking through old emails, I ordered the following.

Surh Anor, I think this is the one that didn't make it.

Salavatski

Wonderful

I'll take a look tomorrow to see if the tag is still on the plant somewhere.

Very cool.

Sounds like a Russian one and a commercial USA one. Both have different flavours.

Looks like an upside-down tomato alien.
