Next stage? This is and has been current for decades. They have designed a tomato that can be harvested by a machine and loaded in a truck by a conveyor belt without breaking the skin.

Any why not? I don't see why eugenics just needs to apply to race. But I get it, what worries us (if I may speak to that) is the knowledge that a corporate will push genetically unhealthy food onto us if it improves profit margin and not nutritional value.

On that note, my tamatoes and and watermelons need tending to today.

If you are talking about selective breeding, centuries. Possibly much longer, even.

Anyone has any idea as to why this gets pushed? Is it merely to introduce copyright on crops to prevent non licensed parties from growing their own food at some point to have greater control?

Yes. It turns farming into a subscription service in which if you dont pay the license fee, you wont plant at all.

I have pots filled with Camas, and an entire garden bed filled with Sunroots. If they find some way of preventing me from growing one crop, I'll simply domesticate another, and prevent them from touching that crop.

You're falling for the fearmongering and becoming a doomer.

The way it works is that the copyrighted crop travels via air and "infects" normal fields. Now you can be sued, no matter what you planted there before. Another way to profit from these is to sell them cheap, but have them engineered to be unable to produce seeds, so now you need to keep buying forever.

So they invent a reason to sue me, they try to sue me, then I dismember their spouse and children for their trouble.

Hybridized plants like this already exist. It's why I grow a healthy mix of domesticated and wild crops. In the event something goes wrong with the domesticated crops, such as infertility, I can still rely on the wild crops.

Yes that's my guess. And the talk about adding vaccines to plants fits in there too.

Oh, you won’t get your deathshots? You will eat it in your vegetables instead!

My problem isn't with the modified food. My problem is with the laws being passed which make it harder or impossible for the consumer, to buy non-modified food.
