Changes in my musical preference/tolerance

submitted by 1Icemonkey to music 3 yearsMay 5, 2022 00:28:43 ago (+6/-0)     (music)

Over the last few months I’ve been searching for more meaningful music to listen to, and have begun purging my hard rock and heavy metal cd collection. Setting aside copies for those who may want them, the others i will toss. The point being, that I am unhappy with the messaging in the music, radio rock included.

The other day I had an epiphany when I realized I just want music without lyrics. I don’t want any negative words in my head. You know, the killer tune that you repeat in your mind because you like the sound of the music, yet they lyrics are shit, stuff that brings about I’ll feelings. I’ve decided to give classical music a listen and over the last 36-48 hours, I have enjoyed it. I listened to some online streaming and some public radio while driving. I want more of this. Any recommendations?

Bluegrass

Another example of White people music played by White people for the enjoyment of White people.

If you still like rock music but want to avoid lyrics give Joe Satriani a listen. Most of his stuff is lyricless and he is a damned good guitarist.

I think the messaging in a lot of metal is spot on. Might not be a happy message, but it's much more reality than sexy tractors. I'd attribute my (justifiable) lack of trust in government directly to growing up reading lyrics from death metal bands.

The only time i do listen to music i put on soundtracks from video games. Current go to is the final fantasy series, especially 7 and 8. It's kind of like classical music.

Bach. Brandenburg Concertos #2 and #4 (All are good). You have to listen to most classical a few times to really get all of what is going on. Try some Wagner overtures. It is heroic music of our people. For something frivolous try Rossini overtures, very catchy and pleasant listening. For coon tunes you can't beat the Joshua Rifkin recordings of Scott Joplin. It is not at all the saloon piano player stuff you associate with ragtime. Finally, a similar musical form from the same time period are the Sousa marches.

"post-Rock" its rock without vocals, most prominbent band of the genre is "God is an astronaut"

classic: the artists are long dead, so the works of Beethoven, Mozart, Pachelbel, Bach are all open license.

but why not just listen to german music, so you dont understand the lyrics?

"WIR SIND HELDEN" my friend... theres so much beauty in their songs =)

anyways... stay positive and hate the jEw =)

Good for you. I started listening to that gay electronic music years ago. Very basic upbeat lyrics if there are any. Always classical music in the car. I would March into certain death with a manic smile on my face to some of that shit.

Songs in other languages can be good too. The hu is good fun, and mostly in Mongolian.

I really love Japanese music from the 80s. Toshiki Kadomatsu, Piper, The Wild Ones, etc. Really great stuff

I can't believe I ever spent so much time listening to ACDC. So much screaming...fuck, I can't stand it anymore. Well, occasionally.

You might try getting in to ripping your music and/or torrenting. I have amassed a huge music collection and when I say huge...if they were in CD format, they would take up an entire room of my house.

When I stream (to find new music) I listen to somafm or accuradio
