Years ago I lived in a town in NZ. At the local butcher they had a section that was labeled "pet food" that was filled with large 2-5kg chunks of horse meat. The butcher told us lots of people bought it that he knew didn't have pets, it was about half the price of beef. We would buy a lump for our cat. When we got home we would cut it up into smaller pieces, to freeze some. While doing this our cat would be pacing back and forth purring and drooling puddles on the kitchen floor until we gave him some.
