Naw. My handle comes from a rare book called, ‘The Faithful Executioner: Life and Death, Honor and Shame in the Turbulent Sixteenth Century’. Quite the title. The pear of anguish was mainly used for the mouths of god and royalty shit talkers, and cheating wives got the vagina treatment. Most of the clergy back then were closeted fags that weren’t keen on punishing gays severely because someday the mob might come for them. Ass use of the pear occurred a handful of times. The book was written in the sixteenth century by an executioner that didn’t want it and was roped into it. He had to oversee torturing, but his official job was executing. He was there to make sure that the torturing didn’t go so far as to result in an unsanctioned execution. Which was considered murder. Everyone in the torture chamber got in big trouble if you killed someone. The clergy and royal minions just asked the questions and made the call on the torture method, they didn’t torture themselves. And the executioner didn’t torture. It was a formulaic and escalating system in which the severity of the crime dictated where you started on the torture ladder. Each piece of torture equipment came with a specialist, and they paced around in a green room till they said, ‘rack, you’re up’. Then he did his thing. The pear of anguish actually had a manager, and he had an apprentice that fetched it for him. My handle honors that kid; the guy that polished and maintained the pear of anguish, and delivered it from its little gilded box with a holy cross on the lid, and brought it to the torturer.
