The US hosts more child sexual abuse content online than any other country in the world, new research has found. The US accounted for 30% of the global total of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) URLs at the end of March 2022, according to the Internet Watch Foundation, a UK-based organization that works to spot and take down abusive content.

Nice comment LB. I have become increasingly skeptical of these LE round ups of pedophiles which I think are increasingly political. Notice they hardly ever go after muslims who are the worst offenders in this area. Conservatards are happy to applaud that LE is finally doing its job. But there are never any roundups of rich pedowood types. Pedophiles need the rope but you are right, they are using this as a back door for their other agenda.

The interesting thing is that if molesters control the center of the political apparatus, and they control the laws, why haven't they just legalized it yet? They seem to be able to stuff any other abhorrent law down our throats. And why then do the laws get more severe and more broad with time, if the very people in control of the law are into that kind of thing? It may be a recruiting tool, to say our clique can do what it wants, but if you are outside of our clique and you have some predilection, then we will make sure you are as fucked as possible.

All law serves the political class even if by happenstance sometimes those laws are viewed positively. Positive or negative, it is an interesting question, how have the last 20 years of development benefited political cliques, because nothing in law happens without that.

I am reminded of a Ayn Rand quote (one of her characters), when one of the LE type figures explains that they don't want you to obey the law. They want you to be a criminal, because criminals can be affected by the law and controlled. It makes you wonder why it used to be that only actual abuse material was an issue (film or pictures of a child being sexually assaulted), then it moved to include teenage content, then nudism became the same thing as abuse material, then drawings became abuse material. Maybe nobody should be looking at any of that, but they seem to be casting the net wider and wider and wider to get as many sorry souls as they can to be criminals.

I don’t really think most of them do. Maybe some of them. I don’t that everyone at the pentagon fucks kids. I don’t believe that everyone on the board of Morgan Stanley fucks kids. I just think they don’t care, but you’re right. They can use it as a control mechanism. Ultimately the opportunists that now are in total control of our government and economy will push for legalization. Is it because they want to fuck kids? No, because they want to make money off people that want to fuck kids and theres plenty of people like that. Right now they want to make money off weed. So we all are being plied with propaganda to that end. Theyll get around to kids. Why wouldn’t they?

okay, so 30%, and what is the total number of endpoints served by the US? This shows that the article was written, not to inform, but to guide the narrative.

They then use this to call for legislation. What the hell would that look like? Outside of banning porn (not really a bad thing) i assume that producing and distributing child abuse material is already illegal, so what would they add? This is a technical issue unless they want to go after bad guys, which historically they no intention of doing.

I know that they are pushing to get the world to adopt EU standards, and they are trying to demonize the more laissez-faire US standards generally. The EU recently sent Elon Musk notice that his twitter can't be a free website and needs to follow their rules. And they made a point of making that notice public for their propaganda purposes. So there may be an effort to attack US web standards broadly, to say it isn't good enough.

If you want to push that narrative you want to target propaganda to each side of the isle. To the left you push out material saying that US website freedom is responsible for racism, and to the right you suggest that it is responsible for pedophilia, when in reality the US standard just lets sites like catbox exist.

What specifically did they attack about our standards? The non-requirement to search for content. Do you think the owner of catbox has the time to look at every single image we upload, on a site provided to the public for free, while working a real job to support the project financially. Without our standards say goodbye to any infrastructure set up by an individual. I promise you there is illegal content on catbox. If you want the EU standards you are for sending him to jail for offering you a free service.

The other possible motive is this may be pure and simple shilling. If the US drops 230 for unintended hosting of illegal content then the market for AI based categorization software will increase. That's basically a monopoly because you and I can't retain the kind of data needed to train a model that could compete with those sanctioned by the government to train such models. Then you are sending content to some saas API that's seeing 100% of your user's data.

Wow yeah that last part about the ai filtering seems spot on.

"Muh, the children!"

"Need more legislation enacted by pedophiles."

"Only bigger government can save us!"

"Problem getting worse; must kill all White people!"

"Remember the 6 gorillion!"

How exactly do they "spot" abusive content?

What's really sad is I saw a Tom Scott where he showed that images of noise can trigger image categorization. Training an AI to not get false positives is nearly, if not fundamentally, impossible.

[ - ] canbot 1 point 3 yearsApr 26, 2022 20:13:52 ago (+1/-0)

The technology exists to create a computer learning program that would reduce the false positive to near zero. Furthermore, if the manpower is already being expended to prosecute people it would be trivial, and only logical, for the prosecutor to go over the evidence.

Microsoft is most likely putting out faulty tools on purpose.

The US hosts more then Eastern Europe, the white slave capitol of the world? Or North Africa where men will walk right up and ask if your children are for sale? In all my years on the internet, I’ve never come across any child sex abuse material. The fucks that are into this use VPN’s so you can’t tell where in the world the supplier is located.

Basically this is about sites like catbox being roped into hosting content they have no desire to host. Because the US has more publicly accessible servers than most of the world, and the US doesn't throw people in jail for providing free services on the internet that can be abused, the US comes ahead.

Also, by shear scale the US isn't really comparable with say France. We probably have the most total number of fat people. We have more people of Irish decent than Ireland.
