Democracy is a failed concept in every possible variation you could think of, there is no political system that gives any demographic of the masses any amount of say in any of their policies or leadership could work.

Restrict the vote to a certain demographic, theh will vote to give everyone else a say.

Restrict the vote to electing leaders rather than directly concluding policy changes from the vote, and the people will elect narcissistic and psychopathic demagogues who will bring about corruption, tyranny, and decline.

Restrict some policies from being changed by the vote, and thered still be catastrophic damage ftom the policies that could be changed, and those policies that were meant to be exempt would be open to alteration anyway, because the ignorant masses would will it be so.

When you have democratic rule, it will inevitably be a rule by the absolute worst of the voting pool, it's an idiocracy, or rule by the worst ideas of those least fit to weigh in on political matters.

Realize also that people need to be forces to live freely, the masses will always desire the comfort, convenience, predictability, and security of being controlled by, and dependant upon, a large powerful government that could intrude into every detail of their lives, have them be at its mercy, and be able to decide upon absolute anything.

Most people have no interest in political matters, they are totally uninformed, and frequently misinformed by state manipulated media, they don't care to be informed on political matters, many of them are actively avoiding knowledge on such matters, because the pursuit of such knowledge may lead them to alienation or into conflicts with others.

They still vote, however, they vote only because they feel entitled to do so, they vote only because they feel like it's their obligation to, they vote the way they do for the dumbest and most superficial or fallacious of reasons, Trudeau was mainly voted in by women who thought he looked like a movie star, it wasn't hidden from the public that the guy was openly marxist, a sex offender, irredeemably corrupt, and fantasized about the genocide of an entire race of people, namely the descendants of his country's founding stock.
